  • @slideguy100

Like I said, Too Much Talk is mimed but Him Or Me is completely live INCLUDING the backing vocals.

  • @DocReasonable you would be correct doc,the benny segment,is live, forgive me for being a little quick on the draw,.....as you say,so accustomed to thier stuff bein synd,,,,,,,are there any raiders out there, or anyone , know ,why, dick clarke, abc, maybe dictated such

  • @slideguy100

Seems like almost everything they did for TV was at least partially mimed... let's hope some concert footage finally turns up!! They used mostly session players on their records, of course -- but so did the Beach Boys, Byrds, Monkees, etc....

  • i just discovered Freddie Wellers guitar was a Vox, not a Gibson Trini Lopez!

    Now which Vox is it....

  • @yonkieponkie looks like british vox model gtr, whitch never were coveted for great playability, thomas organ vox amps, one am pretty sure is a guardsmen, bass doesnt seem to be a hofner, bt not sure, ive tried to find, these guys live, but think abc and dick clarke saw to it everything was synct,if care to lemme know you bump into live, saw lindsey bout ten years ago in okc, he delivered,,,,ltr bro,,,,see benny snappin his fingers ha.

  • Awesome bass.

  • Those outfits are way too much.

  • i love Freddie Weller and Charlie coe

  • Love Freddie Weller!................Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Too funny with Jacke Benny! thanks for posting this clip!

  • Love it, classic!

  • Thanks for sharing this classic appearance on the Jack Benny show! It was a lot of fun!

  • I love that Mark is singing a live vocal over his recorded 'Him Or Me.' It seems like that was a popular thing with some shows. But anyway, gosh, I think its so hilarious how they say 'flake off.' haha. And then Mark says 'he's probably taken a few extra trips!' The guy is really quick to add that it was a 'trip to salt lake city' I love the good clean fun from the 60s. I wish it was like that now. I'm gonna say 'flake off' from now on. haha

  • Who said Michael Jackson popularized the moon walk! The Raiders were first and they did it sideways. When Mark was in Toledo, Ohio in June of 2010 with the Happy Together Tour, Mark commented about Jackson,"The little twerp kept the song Indian Reservation from hitting number one!" It was Indian Reservation or Arizona, I forget.

  • Anyone know whatever happened to Charlie Coe? He played bass in The Raiders' later incarnation, but he was one HELL of a guitarist.

  • the show was bubblegum fluff here but what a rockin' great song. they're kind of like watching the monkees on these shows but their music was great. still is. They were a great rock band.

  • Imagine trying to put together a show like this today!!!! Something everyone could watch, and enjoy....Great acts, Talent, and fun to watch, Nothing out there today comes close!!!

  • ...............................Hell, back then....if you wanted to give an audience a sound that you really wanted people to hear, ya needed an amp the size of a volkswagon and 15 miles of cables! And if Jack Benny or Ed Sullivan did not provide those things, guess what?----lip sync! At least they got on tv and the world could see them! (which equaled record sales!).................................just sayin' :)

  • Ya know, if folks would watch these vids for what they are really worth (that is, the classic value) instead of "they're lip syncing" or "You can tell they're not really playing", you just might see the true entertainment involved. Yes, we all know they faked alot of shit back then. The logictics of early live tv limited what they (ALL bands) could do. Nano amps and wireless simply did not exist! Now....... if they fake things THESE days, technologically, THAT's cheapskate crap!

  • Does anyone know why Paul Revere and Marc Lindsay hate each other?

  • i remember seeing this show on tv!

  • paperback writer?//.????

  • And when Benny joins them during the breakdown in the song, you still hear the bass but Coe is not even touching his instrument. It's still nice to hear what they would have sounded like live, though.

  • Aside from a lot of clips of a live vocal over tracks, this is the closest we've ever come to a clip of the Raiders actually playing - but they aren't. It's obviously not the record so they must have gone into a studio and recorded a live version to play to. But you can tell they're not playing here because there is a second guitar on the intro and aside from Mark's, there are no other vocal mics yet you can hear the background vocals.

  • Really serves to illustrate the difference between quality instruments and what they were playing on Him or Me.

  • What a riot with Jac k Benny!

  • Love, love, LOVE this! The blue-ish uniforms, the footwork of Mark and axe-men Freddy Weller and Charlie Coe, and of course the music! I see that Paul on the keyboard is still wearing the 3-corner hat they wore during their appearances on "Where the Action Is" a few years earlier. And Jack Benny has one on, too, but the other guys don't. And it's great that they're doing a live version of "Him or Me". The earlier song, "Too Much Talk", is strictly a lip-synch.

  • Aw, the late 60s. A time I'll never know.

Who shot the curtains? Get a look at those suits.
