I am 42 and had moderate to severe regergitation + a hole in the heart. I had them repaired 17months ago. I have never been a scared as i was then but like every one else has said I was out of hospital after about 6 days and walking every day there after. I do far more physically now then I did before. I was actually surfing just 4 months after surgery and a couple of months ago climbed mount Snowdon.
What doesn't kill us just makes us stronger! Nothing in life seems to scare me since.
is this surgery dangerous?my father is 61 and has this problem from birth.despite the fact that doctors said he is strong body the problem still exists.so what will i have to expect?a routine surgery or a risky one with danger of losing my father?i am so scared because the surgery has been arranged
If you have a mechanical heart valve and the noise keeps you awake at night - but you DON'T want to use drugs or narcotics to sleep - you can purchase a non-addictive inexpensive, psychoacoustic audio recording titled "Heartbeat River" at cdbaby.com
just had this done 6 weeks ago, january 14 2011..overnite after my surgery i was able to walk and the nxtday walk twice a day they discahrged me after six day, 2nd week i was able to go shopping, 3rd week i was abble to drive car but be careful and drive slowly, now after six weeks i was able to ride bike everyday my first day just in the block,2nd day 3 minutes, 5 minutes and i feel better now not like before im feel tired easily i feel better a lot more now then before.
Just had this done 3 weeks ago.. on day 3, I was able to walk up 3 flights of steps, now I can walk 5 klm at a fast pace without getting puffed. The trick to a fast recovery is do a lot of pre-op exercises.and make sure you eat all the right foods so you have healthy blood and cells. Do as much as you can for as long as you can and then do it over and over again and again.
is it better to have this surgery done when you are younger or older? i'm only 22 and my cardiologist says my mitral regurgitation is "moderate to severe"
Thanks for the video. I hope my surgeon is as good as you when my time comes. I had a bout with a leaking mitral valve a year and a half ago, and am presently on blood pressure pills until the potential need comes for a repair or replacement. I feel better after seeing your video. You're worth much more than you're paid sir. Glad you followed your calling. Thanks again.
Buen video, yo pase por esto hace 15 dias con una tecnica minimamente invasiva (por la telilla derecha) y estoy de contento que doy palmas con las orejas
Am having this done Nov 7th. Thanks for the video. It has help me to understand what will take place.
