Buddhism had nothing to do whatsoever in the planning,construction or running of the temple. The court language is not sanskrit. Sanskrit are on some bas relief but majority its Pali language using khmer script which came from souther India. Pallava script came about the Khmer script which is used to right Pali/Khmer language. A lot of borrowed sacred/holy/royal/governmental words came from Pali.

We all need to appreciate one thing for a fact - Angkor Vat was a temple for hindu gods made by Khmer king. Buddhism had nothing to do whatsoever in the planning,construction or running of the temple. Somehow Buddhists have come to regard most of the hindu history as their own and hindus don't mind because buddhists are end of the day hindus ( founder Siddharth - Gautam Buddha was a hindu ). But laying claims to important religious sites like Angkor is taking it too far. Sounds cheap to me.

I'am extremely impressed by the breadth of your knowledge and the conviction of your thoughts. Angkor Vats presiding deity was Shiva and Shiva is a Hindu god. I don't see any reason why anyone should dispute this well accepted fact. The times of construction of Angkor Vat temples are preceded by many centuries by temples in India with the same gods. So you cannot derive a conclusion that Khmer gods are different from hindu gods. What you call Hinduism is not a religion. The religion is Vedic.

Mohi, That Stegosaurus were found at Ta Prohm not Angkor Wat. There are many strange carving but are destroyed or lost during the war.

Second of all, in Srivijaya or the malacca Sultanate, they don't even speak tamil language as their court langauge. that is the most silliest thing I ever heard. In fact, they speak Austronesian language which is mixed up with sanskrit, arabic, chinese and Persian.... however, that doesn't make them tamilised or arabised or persianised or Chinesed in the 1st place... Just because they are hindu, that doesn't make their architecture totally Indian like..

The court language is not sanskrit. Sanskrit are on some bas relief but majority its Pali language using khmer script which came from souther India. Pallava script came about the Khmer script which is used to right Pali/Khmer language. A lot of borrowed sacred/holy/royal/governmental words came from Pali.

Actually, there are so much more influence from different regions of India. the shape of the tower for example is of the classical North Indian style and the court language was Sanskrit, not Tamil. In fact, Tamil has never been a court language in anywhere in Southeast Asia.

"Thais can't even translated the text b/c it's Khmi in scripture, so who has strong influence of cultural and history?" The stairways at Angkor Wat are steep. But once I got to the top..it was amazing to see the complex and it's surroundings with miles of forest in all directions. The size of Angokor Wat and countless relief carvings are truely phenomenal in retrospect that in those days they did not have the technology of today. Everything about it is so symmetrical and detailed. I'm proud at did.
