  • WOW! The best 20 years of my life just flew by. My grandmother didn't drive, the 50s & 60s it wasn't odd-you hopped a trolley, bus, train, the EL. In 69 we moved to the burbs-my grandma stayed in UD-but she was at our house or we were at hers all the time, if the trains ran so did we. We'd get the R5 @ Berwyn, hop off at nova-cross campus hop the P&W to 69th st., 100s of times, sometimes we'd just ride end to end for fun. GREAT TIMES-I can still recall the sounds & smells-thanx

When I was in my teens I used to seek out the one operator who would take out a 60 car and I would ride one sometimes two round trips with him every Saturday. The 60 cars rode smoother than the Bullets because they were some 3 tons heavier.
