It's not like these guys go out there intentionally trying to hurt eachother (atleast most times). Alex Ovechkin is an absolute beast, and I know he could of hit Jamie a lot harder, but he's a respectful player and an energy player as well. He let up on the hit, knowingly, but it's just one of those plays where the opposing player is just in an awkward position on the ice and leads to injury. Ovechkin didn't mean to hurt him in that way, and at 0:29 you can see he was concerned about Heward. It's just awkward plays like this that people tend to label players as "dirty" and it's stupid..

Ovechkin should have been sent straight from the ice and been a spectator for the rest of the season. Anyone injuring a player to the extent of immobilising him deserves as hefty a disciplinary as the NHL or indeed IIHF can deliver.

Didn't mean to do it. OVECHKIN and heward where room mates in Ovis rookie season and u could clearly see his concern. Heward helped him speak English and have eachother on speed dial, they did then and they still do. Heward said in a statement that OV called him directly after the game before he even was undressed.
