Best version of the Untouchables I ever saw. Better than Robert Stack. He was good but not as good as Tom Amandes. I've always said he reminded me of Jimmy Stewart. Lovely face. Great acting from everyone in this series. It should have been longer. Wish I could buy it but where??
I'm shocked the actor who played Eliot Ness never played Jimmy Stewart in a bio TVM. I'm a huge fan of the original 60's tv series. As well as the movie, I thought they did a decent job in this remake. Epically in the casting of Ness & Big Al. Why they always miscast the actor to play Frank Nitti gets me. The guy in the series & movie was great. But looked nothing like the real man. The original series he was great & resembled him. But not alot, too bad this series didn't last longer.
I Have been looking for This Show just for The Theme Song alone. I Have Never Forgotten how Great is Was. They didn't give this show a Chance It only Ran for 2 Seasons from 93 to 94. I Remember this is the Show that First Introduced Me to David James Elliott Pre JAG.
This show was AWESOME - I don't think it mattered that it took a few liberties with history. I still say William Forsyth was about the best Capone I've ever seen.
Holy shit! I found it! My favorite TV show on the planet! This was the most compelling show I ever watch from 1993-1994. Even though most of it is glorified lies and embellishments, this show was entertaining. Love it!
Lies and embellishments? Well obviously things didn't happen the way they were shown here, but I don't think it was ever meant to be a true history lesson, anymore than the movie was.
Think of it like Robin Hood or King Arthur. There may have been real men upon whom the stories were based, but the stories have been changed or embellished so much over the years that the real people have almost nothing in common with the legends.
does anyone have the episode where malone gets killed by that nazi guy that was a good episode and love that song that played anyone know the name of it??
I would have loved this show if it was still around today. Love the movie and I love the mob. Love The Godfather. I'm writing my own mob story right now too. Just started a couple days ago. Very cool! Thanks! Enjoy!
You know, this is the only episode I have where the beginning was scrambled when aired. Thanks for allowing me to finally see it. I have the entire series on tape. Yes, the ENTIRE series! And soon on DVD!

I liked this show back in '93 but now it just seems massively unauthentic.

It's funny when you think about, this show is based after a movie which was an adaptation of a TV show which was based after a book.

Tom Amandes has had a couple of great gigs. First he got to kick ass as Elliot Ness, then he walked on the moon in "From the Earth to the Moon".
Plus he married the actress who played his wife on the show.
Let's get some DVD's going with some features on it! I'd love to hear the thoughs of Tom, John Rhys-Davies, and William Forsythe years later.

Try "Best Buy stores". They're usually good when it comes to selling shows from the
1960's and 1990's.
If, not try Columbia House. They are also very reliable.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, I don't believe they've begun releasing the 90s series only the 50s series to date.
I was able to get the entire season 1 on dvd from someone in canada who had vhs recorded the entire show when it original aired there.

Talk to AncientWorldWonders (he commented above).
He's got the series on tape, and sent me season 1 at a reasonable price.
Good luck.

his account has been suspended, do you have any contact info for him?

Oow. That stinks.
I do not.
I would be able to help you get your hands on the first season (I think it's something like 17 episodes.)
Message me and maybe we can work something out.

szandics 5 years ago
I'd love to know the answer to that question as well. I uploaded this off of a VHS tape I recorded off TV on from years back.
Though I noticed a comment above from somebody that seems to have the whole series on tape and is planning to put it on DVD.
