The way she shows the kicks won't hurt that much, maybe stun him for a second or so but hardly much more. Hit the leg that is supporting his weight will be both much more effective, and easy (since the knee or the area just above the knee is much more easier to reach, and the fact that you will have more power kicking there thanks to a proper alignment with your body). If you can't kick, try to get your legs inside his advancing legs and work on the knee joint, either by breaking or bending it.
I had a man attack me in the grocery store parking lot one time. Little did he know I'm the daughter of a Krav Manga instructor. I quickly disabled him by thrusting the heel of my hand into his nose, breaking it, and striking into his clavical, disabling him. I like taking the pit bull approach and going for the throat.

Also, it is good to know how to work with other areas because a woman don't have groin, so it is even more difficult to use this trick against her (you need to be extremely precise to go that way).
Well I can some problems with that strategy, it may be ok to catch yourself with the wrist, elbow on a soft mat, try the same on the pavement. May brake the wrist or elbow in the process

It's not just this single kick technique, it's a toolbox. Visit a JJ school (not the BJJ type) to have it demonstrated for you. It *does* work.

Guys who train for months, then get mounted and never figure out how to get the guy off. And these are pros, what chance does any regular person have against a pro. You'd get a lot more power if you just laid on your back and slammed both feet into his kneecaps. Most people couldn't generate enough power from that angle to do any real damage, even if it was to the groin.
good technique dadly demonstr8ted . you need to a) teach breack fall, First! arm is for beginner only but ALWAYS tuck the chin i have seen it go wrong. then you need to cover your groin with the other leg or he will kick you on the ........ The tech works best when you unleash it at an attacker as they advance. You then of course need a get up strategy and a multiple attacker strategy but I would not expect them in one vid. :)

The best self defense tip is from my Krav Maga instructor. Always put your car key in between your fist (key sticking out between middle & ring finger). Striking an assailant with this will do more damage than fist & elbow.

@COOLANDFUNDESIGN If I was teaching this technique, I'd recommend attacking the knee joint rather than the groin. It would be an easier target to exploit. You don't need to defeat your attacker at this point. Just give yourself enough room and time to get back to your feet. Btw, you can still kick a woman in the groin and have it be very effective.

If you master your balance there is no need to rely on unrealistic ground techniques. If you try and catch a free falling body with your arms in the position taught you will risk great injury when it is done on concrete or any urban areas.....

If your attacker is drunk enough, angry enough, or high enough, he CAN (and very well might!) ignore or not feel the pain of it! And, if you can't kick high enough, it won't matter anyway! The BEST target to kick is the knee! Even if your attacker doesn't feel the pain, he can't follow you if his knees' broken! Remember, you NEED to be able to escape!

Kris2003 and Taitungknight are correct. What I do with women black belts at my school who have been taught this is simple. I tell them to get down on the ground and kick me as hard as they can. They act surprised when it doesn't work, but it gets the point across. Don't take someone's word for it on stuff like this because they have the title "black belt." Try it first then weed out the good from the bad.

unfortunately your stomach muscles don't have enough power to repell your legs hard enough even if you did connect you're going to lose you'd be better off putting one foot behind the attacks ankle tugging that foot toward yourself and ramming your other foot into the knee as hard as you can while using both arms to push against the floor as though getting up into the standing position this way you have full momentum to send them flying backwards and perhaps dislocate their kneecap

If they grab both your feet, then you scoot foward, or if they are pulling you, let them pull you, while pulling closer yourself, you end up with your butt by their feet. After that you grab their feet. They fall over. Every time. Then you axe kick them in the groin and run.

Like others have posted, go for the knee or shin and try to get up. BJJ (and probably a couple of other grappling arts) teaches a very simple and effective way to get back to your feet. Look up getting back to your feet + BJJ + Grappling and you'll find it on youtube somewhere.
Dont try to kick him in the groin. The groin from a ground position is quite far away and therefore there is a big possibility that your attacker will catch your leg. Using front kick, side kick, back side kick and round house kicks and only using them to the knees and behind the knees is the best way. Stay safe, Li An ning!
imo, you should always stay as "tight" as possible to guard your center.... kicking in a knee is a much better approach...
You don't spread out as much, you don't have to be as flexible, nor strong in "acward" muscles, and by not relying on muscles that for most people are fairly weak... you gain accuracy... Its also a smaller move, therefor "harder " to detect and deflect and/or otherwise react to.

That said, I can't believe she's advocating falling onto the elbow or hands. with both of her demonstrated falls you can either dislocate the shoulder or break the wrist. I believe what you will find is what I told you.. that kick is putting all of your eggs in a basket. If you land it great, if you miss it's very easy to counter and doesnt require any technical skill. Just being bigger. Once the legs are passed you have acess to the hips and rib area or in rape terms the belt and/or blouse. That early into the conflict i dont think the move is practical. But again try it for yourself.. See if it works for you.

Telling them to put thier feet on teh assailants hips is not difficult, ti's jsut tareting. telling them to grab the back of the heels isnt hard either and telling them to push is as basic as it gets. even if u dont sweep you can still push the hips and blow them back long enough to get back.

... as well. it would be easier to free one leg from an attacker's grasp is he was to grab you ankle as you kick. also, kicking with one leg would leave your other leg free to keep defending yourself. if the attacker was to grab on to both of your ankles or if you missed, the attacker could easily drop to the floor, thus giving him the time to overpower the victim and gain control in the mount. a sweeping move is much more technical and, in this case, much more difficult to pull off....

Does this girl have any full contact experience? And third degree black belt in what? Anybody else ever tried to effectively kick a standing opponent from their back? I have, unless you get lucky and land a chin shot, its utterly useless. The opponent catches one or both of your feet, throws them to one side, takes side mount and rains elbows down. @COOLANDFUNDESIGN If I was teaching this technique, I'd recommend attacking the knee joint rather than the groin. It would be an easier target to exploit. You don't need to defeat your attacker at this point. Just give yourself enough room and time to get back to your feet. Btw, you can still kick a woman in the groin and have it be very effective.

If you master your balance there is no need to rely on unrealistic ground techniques. If you try and catch a free falling body with your arms in the position taught you will risk great injury when it is done on concrete or any urban areas.....

Ok, not a bad video! But, I gotta tell all of you women watching this...going for the groin is not actually your best bet! If your attacker is drunk enough, angry enough, or high enough, he CAN (and very well might!) ignore or not feel the pain of it! And, if you can't kick high enough, it won't matter anyway! The BEST target to kick is the knee! Even if your attacker doesn't feel the pain, he can't follow you if his knees' broken! Remember, you NEED to be able to escape!

Kris2003 and Taitungknight are correct. What I do with women black belts at my school who have been taught this is simple. I tell them to get down on the ground and kick me as hard as they can. They act surprised when it doesn't work, but it gets the point across. Don't take someone's word for it on stuff like this because they have the title "black belt." Try it first then weed out the good from the bad.

unfortunately your stomach muscles don't have enough power to repell your legs hard enough even if you did connect you're going to lose you'd be better off putting one foot behind the attacks ankle tugging that foot toward yourself and ramming your other foot into the knee as hard as you can while using both arms to push against the floor as though getting up into the standing position this way you have full momentum to send them flying backwards and perhaps dislocate their kneecap

If they grab both your feet, then you scoot foward, or if they are pulling you, let them pull you, while pulling closer yourself, you end up with your butt by their feet. After that you grab their feet. They fall over. Every time. Then you axe kick them in the groin and run.

Like others have posted, go for the knee or shin and try to get up. BJJ (and probably a couple of other grappling arts) teaches a very simple and effective way to get back to your feet. Look up getting back to your feet + BJJ + Grappling and you'll find it on youtube somewhere.

Dont try to kick him in the groin. The groin from a ground position is quite far away and therefore there is a big possibility that your attacker will catch your leg. Using front kick, side kick, back side kick and round house kicks and only using them to the knees and behind the knees is the best way. Stay safe, Li An ning!

imo, you should always stay as "tight" as possible to guard your center.... kicking in a knee is a much better approach...
You don't spread out as much, you don't have to be as flexible, nor strong in "acward" muscles, and by not relying on muscles that for most people are fairly weak... you gain accuracy... Its also a smaller move, therefor "harder " to detect and deflect and/or otherwise react to.

I assume from the flag in the background that she's a 3rd degree in Taekwondo. That said, I can't believe she's advocating falling onto the elbow or hands. with both of her demonstrated falls you can either dislocate the shoulder or break the wrist. I also disagree with the side leg strikes; that leaves the attacker with only one of your weapons to focus on. I'd focus more on targeting an upkick or two to the groin or to the face if he tries to mount you or fall into your guard. very remedial

yeah a third degree in taekwondo isn't impressive. I would know, because I was about to advance to thrid degree before I got out of ATA TKD and got into some REAL martial arts. That said, I agree with you. Also, she should have gone from teh knees firts, to prevent him from getting closer and causing a lot of pain, then going for the groin. Under him, she can also have many option for grappling, assuming you know anyhting about it.

I believe what you will find is what I told you.. that kick is putting all of your eggs in a basket. If you land it great, if you miss it's very easy to counter and doesnt require any technical skill. Just being bigger. Once the legs are passed you have acess to the hips and rib area or in rape terms the belt and/or blouse. That early into the conflict i dont think the move is practical. But again try it for yourself.. See if it works for you.

curiosity... secondly yes very easily. it simply requires you to have both feet facing the atacker and not laying down on your side relying on one lpower side kick to finish him. Telling them to put thier feet on teh assailants hips is not difficult, ti's jsut tareting. telling them to grab the back of the heels isnt hard either and telling them to push is as basic as it gets. even if u dont sweep you can still push the hips and blow them back long enough to get back.

... as well. it would be easier to free one leg from an attacker's grasp is he was to grab you ankle as you kick. also, kicking with one leg would leave your other leg free to keep defending yourself. if the attacker was to grab on to both of your ankles or if you missed, the attacker could easily drop to the floor, thus giving him the time to overpower the victim and gain control in the mount. a sweeping move is much more technical and, in this case, much more difficult to pull off....
