I totally agree about the liberal art degrees they are worth shit and that is exactly why I'm going into the Healthcare field I'm only two more pre-reqs for the (L.P.N)Progam afterwards I will be doing the (R.N) Program, but I haven't decided if I will be doing the ADN or BSN when that time come I'll make up my mind.
honestly you suck and looking for jobs, I really do not know where you are trying to apply for jobs. Anywho, i did my associates in cs from a local community college and i was able to find a job at phillips as a 1A programmer( entrance level). I was paid 35k per year but that was actually pretty good where i live and i didnt have my bachelors yet. Also i was working part time 20hrs per week. When I graduated they doubled my hours and increased salary to 75k, with taxes about 63k.
@Taxminia0311 Some degrees like liberal arts are not worth your time, you're right, but don't shit on all the education. If you have a good degree in science, like say Masters in chemistry or biotechnology, and apply for a job, they will snap you right the fuck up and give you a great salary and benefits. You will be all set, bro. Fuck the liberal arts, science is where it's at. You just have to work hard and be very determined.
@dr1345 Your exactly right and that is why I have a 3.8 gpa and I'm two pre-reqs classes from the LPN progam at my local Community College afterward I'll be attending the R.N. program.
@Taxminia0311 ... so that you can be thousands of dollars in debt and competing with the multitudinous amounts of other RNs looking for a job. Just in my personal life, I know two RNs that can not find a job to save their lives.
@Taxminia0311 in fact, the RN field is so sought after that a local school in my area, Anoka-Ramsey Community College, had to ban people from camping out in tents on registration day. The entire time I was in college, girls would grab tents and literally wait outside of the school so they could be in this program.
That amount of people move into the job field... where there is not room for them.
Infamous your are a goddamn idiot...my spouse has an IVY league masters and cant get a job at a quickie mart! It, therefore, does NOT matter a shyte how much education you hold....that is the f'in point here. Sheep skins are worthless!
So many burn degree video on YouTube. Someone should make a music video about how college degree is worthless!!! When I watch this video somehow "Love The Way You Lie" - Rihanna pop in mind, maybe the part when she sing "You gotta stand there and watch me burn... You gotta stand there and watch me cry" relate to this. If I ever burn mind, I will cry and look at the degree knowing it only a lie, it does not guarantee a job!!
@infamouskid31 True and not so true..My friend is a new LPN she found a job right after she finished the program and is now making $18.00 an hr and my wife and I both have jobs lined up once we complete our LPN program, but then again it all depends on the A.S degree cause I also have friends that graduated with a A.S. Degree in nursing and found jobs even in this bad economy.
i agree with kanetpkthomas's comment. for the past year i've been on a weightloss journey and recently lossed about 40 pounds on my own. at the beginning of it all i had abs no clue about anything regarding nutrition and how to sustain a healthy lifestyle of eating. but after months worth of just plain researching on google. and trial and error. i've not only become lighter but healthier and probably know just as much about nutrition and health now as any dietitan.
associate in science LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the fuck does that even mean? if you went community college route then should have gone for nursing, radiology or some other medical shit because those are the only degrees that can earn you some solid income above 50K a year due to the nature of these professions and labor market shortage. other than those, the rest of their programs are bullshit.
@dr1345 Exactly my point, The Healthcare careers are in demands regardless of the route you take it's booming even in this bad economy including if you have to relocate to another state our county they're plenty of jobs out there...believe me I have friends who attended to a simple LPN program and most all of them found jobs and some went directly into the A.D.N or B.S.N program right out of the LPN program.
Hey, I learned things in college, genuinely benefitted, AND I used them after I graduated to obtain a job I love! Maybe it's just for some people and not for others.
Degrees are paper, the value of them is inflated by the education system attempting to turn a profit. There is an inherit value to education and being educated but smart people are passed by every day in favor of those more "qualified" which 90% of the time, lets face it, is a douche bag from a wealthy family who was willing to send their kid to a 4 year party so they can scrape a passing grade and get that paper that says the kid is better than other people.
i dont really want people to think this video is just about destroying these papers or discouraging someone from going to school, ive just found that i can learn just as much on my own using the internet, people only really want to know what you can do not who taught it to you.
You got that right. I learned so much just by using the internet. I even know what each U.S. President's favorite foods are. Something they don't teach in college.
@kanetpkthomas my largest problem with college is this;
If it is only the knowledge/skills that are important to be in a specific field.. then why can't we learn it on our own, for free, then pay a one time fee to extensively test out into a degree?
@0Gerry actually one of the top 50 in the US, but ill be honest i learned more from my own studies than i did going to school, people dont really care about your piece of paper they just want you to demonstrate what you know and can do practically.
So far I haven't seen anyone burn a civil engineering degree, thank God.
