What a great instructional video! Very informative and just amazing to watch the seeds sprout and grow. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. I am going to get some wheat seeds to grow now. I'll try some other seeds just for variety. Take care and best wishes to you.
This is a GREAT 'how to' video!!! Thank you so much. My neighbor taught me how to do it but your video gives me a lot of pointers that I can improve with! Thank you!
@popoymotmot it's recommend getting 2 harvests. further tries will have slightly different shades and it probably won't be as tender, also i don't think you will get the same volume as the 1st time. so i'm guessing you will have exhausted the seeds and nutrient levels will have dropped drastically.
hmm i didnt know all that, so i just soaked the seeds in water 24hr, hn then dumped them into a pot with soil, coverded them with a lil bit of it , and in ~2days they sprouted n grew very nice ever since , should i grow em in soil?i think its a miracle grow or a soilles mix im using for some of my herbs and do you have 2 give it any nutrients?thx
For anyone looking for seeds and growing medium - I got 1 lb of wheat seeds (it said about 15,000 seeds) and 4oz of water crystals (supposed to make 2 gallons of crystals once hydrated) for about $20 for everything on eBay.
24 hours later... I am now properly educated :) THANK YOU for making this video! I actually did enjoy it, and I like how you added in the dry humor there :)
@BlackLoveBlackPride It doesn't, wheat grass are just wheat seedlings... Wheat is a crop and has to be grown on open soil, it takes several months before the seeds start even showing on the plants, and quite a while for them to ripen. You're best off buying a small sack each time unless you have the land to grow the actual crop.
Oh shutup fools, stop complaining over the video. Show some intelligence morons, use the slider to skip to the point if you're impatient! The guy just gave you a comprehensive guide to growing wheatgrass, what else d'you want...
This is a fantastic resource! Thank you so much and forget the naysayers, I'm notoriously bad at remembering to follow up on my sproutings in 24 hour increments and this worked for me.
24 hrs later and MARVEL....really......... jeeze this guy is worse than the clear eyes for dry eyes guy!!!!!!!... more like 24 hrs later and i killed myself. Not to inspirational there chief.
I had a wheatgrass growing experience and i got some mold both growing on soil and baby blanket.(very frustrating after waiting 2 weeks!!) Any tips anyone as far as how many times do you water it so moisture doesn't accumulate after the sprouts are on the mediums in order to avoid mold? I dont know if its the weather in Fl that might not be helping...
@rafapknight add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to your water and you won't get mold. I had better luck using growing crystals instead of the other items (and they can be washed and reused for years)
Is the baby blanket stuff, coco coir mat? Also, what is the average height of harvestable wheatgrass 6"-10" ? You have taught me how to properly do sprouts and now wheatgrass! Thanks for the great vids, keep'm coming!
1lb. of wheatgrass is equal to 25lbs. of your choicest vegetables. Good stuff. Also good, spirulina, barley grass, betaglucan, apple pectin, carrot, enzymes, protein from chlorella, broccoli, probiotics and prebiotics, flax, spinach, etc. All found in natraBurst and more. go to gr8wellness . 124online (dot) com and click on the red bottle for all the ingredients. OMG, thoroughest videos ever for sprouting--thankyou!!!
I've got to say, I think half the reason I enjoy these videos so much is because the narrator's voice sounds so much like Robert Downey Jr.'s voice in Sherlock Holmes. Haha. :)
Awesome video would like to know where i could purchase the mats. Have checked the area there do not have any here and they have no clue what i am talking about.
Aww great video. its looks so easy to grow the wheatgrass. I found this facebook page good reading. `Live fresh greens. wheatgrass juice, super greens & alkaline foods`
Wheatgrass is hard to grow. How do you get it to not mold? Also I would suggest a high quality wheatgrass press, I purchased one from Amazon.com and it is worthless. It takes almost a whole tray of wheatgrass to press out a shot. For me I guess its easier to go to the Coop and get a shot..;)
I used to grow indoors until I tested for mold & bacteria. Now I only use dried cereal grass in glass bottles, which is tested, is much greener & grown naturally in cold Kansas winters in its proper climate. It's also a whole food, so my colon gets the chlorophyll-rich roughage that produced the amazing results in the research. Warm indoor conditions & crowded seeds are perfect for growing mold & bacteria, but not for cereal grass. Sprout e.coli that is killing people in Europe is also scary.
@ronbobathon As a prior farmer yes. They do pull nutrients. As soon as you see the roots they are capable of pulling nutrients. I was raised around only one medium, dirt. Its what's worked for the last few million years. I don't get starving them of light for the first few days. Other than to slow down growth or saturate the blades. Take it from me you are doing it right. The proof is in the color.
yea! this is great! i've just run out the back to fill a glass baking tray with compost + planted my seeds + watered good-o; now i realise that i should, ideally, have sprouted them first. So, i'll just have to climb out of bed + set aside a handful of wheat grass seeds + try your version. Also today, i made elder flower cordial or elixir - 10 pints of the stuff at the cost of 68c [that's euro cents] per pint; not bad eh? also used limes + did a ginger/mint version - all with natural fruit sugar
After I germinate the wheat berries, I place them on starter soil or perlite/ vermiculite/ peat moss combo, both with loose soil below. I have been told this is unnecessary, as the tap root that forms (when the grass spits, I am assuming) later pulls the nutrients from the soil, and the sprout gets it from the berry. But I notice that soil mix = greener, robust grass that tastes better by 7-8" tall? I am hallucinating, or does the grass really start pulling nutrients at 4-5"?
@touchmyfire2 you can buy them at there website sprout people.org just look for mediums in the sprouting supply category, but right now their out of stock
I'd like to grow wheatgrass for my juicing needs but it seems i would need a government grant to stay home and do nothing but deal with my wheatgrass crops
What kind of store can I get those black trays from? I bought some online, but they are huge and I think the crop will be bad before I go through the whole thing.
With that said, also- how long is it good for? Should it be refrigerated at any point?
Can you benifet all the good stuff about wheatgrass if you don't use soil. also, can you grow them in the dark or in a room with no sunlight and still be ok?
So after i grow one tray, do i just cut it above the root to juice, or actually use the roots as well? After i cut it, will it grow back, or do i need to keep planting new crops?
So after i grow one tray, do i just cut it above the root to juice, or actually use the roots as well? After i cut it, will it grow back, or do i need to keep planting new crops?
@molinobeer worry more about the ROOT CAUSE of problems, like there not being enough water- Endless Growth Economics and the overpopulation it demands.
@HarmonicaWarrior a special juicer is nice, but i make it in my blender and a lil water and then strain it in a nutmilk bag. it's the ghetto way but it works!
how do you figure.? If wheat grass picks up everything in the soil and tap water has been found to contain many harmfull elements such as flouride arsenic lead cadmium mercury perclaurate chlorine amonia disinfection byproducts acid rain pesticide fertilizers insecticides fungicides. Just sayin you might want to check the total disolved solids on your water. I'm betting the grass would appreciate being fed super filtered remineralized alkaline water. I'll post a video
I just started growing wheatgrass tonight from a kit I bought online... why can I not use the same tray to yeild countless amounts of wheatgrass? It tells me to throw up the tray dirt and roots after one harvest?
i actually want to try this now! looks really cool also very healthy, but i CONNOT believe its actually GRASSS!!!!! imagine what my parents would say to me eating grass haha... but awesome vid- gets to the point .... thank you
Upcoming video, you were right the first time! Forthcoming video would have been a chatty video willing to share it's secrets!! Enjoyed watching you and thanks for the info.
If I don't have sunlight, what kind of affordable light can I buy and how much it needs a day? Also I heard many have trouble with fungus, is there anything more to do to prevent this? Someone recommended Citricide? Lastly, the box you made, if juiced, how many ounces would it give of wheat grass juice, lets say people drink 2-4 ounces a day? So you would have wheat grass available several days a week, how many you need in rotation? P.S. Whats an affordable juicer you recommend? Thanks.
i am wondering why my wheat had white sticky stuff popping out... i mean i remember when i was little i used to chew wheat and that when it used to become gum like texture...
i have seen lots of wheatgrass growing videos i havent seen one talking about the fungus growth problem that can develop on my wheat grass any sugestions? someone said a fan when i put a fan it dries up the newspaper on top of trays very fast, i decided to look deeper in the problem ended up worry for i read a ton of bad reactions to toxic fungus if you have any suggestions or experience with such i appreciate it, this is my first batch.
Sorry to criticize but I'd like if you could add some text saying how long has passed every time you do the rather irritating 't w e n t y f o u r h o u r s l a t e r' thing.
I could go back and count them but I'm sure you want your info to be as helpful as possible. I must say, yours is the most complete instruction I have found. You answer all the questions.
This is SUCH an excellent video. THANK YOU! I teach a growing grass unit in my Algebra class and this video is going to be such a great addition to the unit.
I ordered by sprout people and they did not ship my order, I request refund many times and no response. I do not trust this company and I would not order from this company.
I would like to know how to grow organic nutrient dense wheat grass. This stuff has to be toxic from the tap water and plastic tray. Also isn't better to just eat the whole plant instead of juicing?
This wheatgrass is uselss, wheatgrass is so good because it sucks up all the nutrients on the soil, sun, water, and makes the wheatgrass soo dense in nutrition , if you just make a seed grow out of thin our its useless.
@Ambushcrysis Its far from 'useless' ,the seed itself contains all the nutrients it really needs and also juicing wheatgrass is about alot more than simply getting nutrients - its the elixor of life!
@Ambushcrysis I agree. I'd heard that the seed only has enough energy and nutrients to last the first several days. After that point, you had to had your wheatgrass planted in good soil. As it's been said...if it isn't in the soil (nutrients), it isn't in the grass. If you're not using any soil at all...I think you can do the math on that one.
Should use your voice for TV shows. Hehe "24 Hours Later" Love that soundbyte.

Do i need a "specialist" type of juicer for juicing wheatgrass.
HarmonicaWarrior 11 months ago
@HarmonicaWarrior a special juicer is nice, but i make it in my blender and a lil water and then strain it in a nutmilk bag. it's the ghetto way but it works!

CONSTRINGACY 1 year ago
how do you figure.?

If I don't have sunlight, what kind of affordable light can I buy and how much it needs a day? Also I heard many have trouble with fungus, is there anything more to do to prevent this? Someone recommended Citricide? Lastly, the box you made, if juiced, how many ounces would it give of wheat grass juice, lets say people drink 2-4 ounces a day? So you would have wheat grass available several days a week, how many you need in rotation? P.S. Whats an affordable juicer you recommend? Thanks.

cool, thanks, now for a newbie Q:
How many times can you harvest this grass? Is it possible to keep it growing continuously for multiple harvests?
TellinTheTruth 1 year ago
Sorry to criticize but I'd like if you could add some text saying how long has passed every time you do the rather irritating 't w e n t y f o u r h o u r s l a t e r' thing.
I could go back and count them but I'm sure you want your info to be as helpful as possible. I must say, yours is the most complete instruction I have found. You answer all the questions.
Thank you.

After youve cut the wheatgrass, if u water it, will it grow back?
Wolvve 1 year ago
I would like to know how to grow organic nutrient dense wheat grass. This stuff has to be toxic from the tap water and plastic tray. Also isn't better to just eat the whole plant instead of juicing?

besplatnifilmovi 1 year ago
This wheatgrass is uselss, wheatgrass is so good because it sucks up all the nutrients on the soil, sun, water, and makes the wheatgrass soo dense in nutrition , if you just make a seed grow out of thin our its useless.
Ambushcrysis 1 year ago
@Ambushcrysis Its far from 'useless' ,the seed itself contains all the nutrients it really needs and also juicing wheatgrass is about alot more than simply getting nutrients - its the elixor of life!
FletcherHabit 1 year ago
@Ambushcrysis I agree. I'd heard that the seed only has enough energy and nutrients to last the first several days. After that point, you had to had your wheatgrass planted in good soil. As it's been said...if it isn't in the soil (nutrients), it isn't in the grass. If you're not using any soil at all...I think you can do the math on that one.
