Man, why is this guy playing dumb? He talks about how reading is hard... then cites the ancient (?) Greeks as having discovered the atom? How is that even reasonable or justifiable?
Oh ho ho it's just a joke! Well it's insulting if you know ANYTHING AT ALL. Which the typical American doesn't. You shit heads don't know how to read, which WHY you don't understand the history behind discovering nuclear bonds nor do you understand the implications of using the atom bomb in WWII.
@jas16899 What the hell are you talking about? Yeah, Americans have no idea how to read. Your correct. Most powerful nation in the history of the world; but yeah, we have no idea how to read. Oh yeah and history, don't even get me started. We don't understand nuclear BONDS? Your right. When you learn to spell properly and type english, then you can insult the people who speak it. Dumbass.
@jas16899 Cool story bro. It's a JOKE, tight-ass. Don't go generalizing an entire nation just because you don't have the slightest understanding of how comedy works.
@jas16899 He correctly stated that an ancient Greek was the first to propose the idea of the smallest molecule. That is usually stated as the first proposal of the atom, although one day it will be cited as the first proposal of the existance of a "string". Just STFU and listen carefully next time bro.
@CaptainCrunchOwns but that's one of the best kinds of humor though, if you do it right. Many comedians nowadays still make jokes about different races. Brian Regan's style is clean and funny. He makes fun of everyday hardships and things people just don't happen to notice. I especially like the "I walked on the Moon" video from him by the way.
@trainingTraceur WTF? I thought that was funny. How could you say it pissed you off? That's a little too much just for some little thing he does. you're very hateful aren't you. HATER! it makes you sound violent dude.
Did he mess up the "50 words per minute" thing? Don't most people read much faster than that? Then he said that he was flying through the book. Oh well.
@MegztheTackleQueen I heard him tell it differently before. It's just that it doesn't make sense...obviously it was a joke. The joke was that he was reading like 40 pages a minute, but his comprehension plummeted. I thought that was a funnier way of telling it.
He did great. You do not have to worry about him - he's here to stay. He's developed a huge fan base who appreciate him and his non-foul act - one of the few.
he had to rush his acts these are on his epitome of hyperbole act, but its cuz hes on letterman, and even while the audience is laughing, they are still a tough audience
Oh! It says right there, Brian Regan on Letterman - March 14, 2008.
I was wondering who that guy was that just walked out on the stage and started telling jokes and making funny faces. I looked up at the title and then it all made sense. I'm glad they do that.
Yeah, but in the Epitome of Hyperbole the time was to his leisure, instead of having it limited like it was here. He had a lot more time to develop the jokes and draw them out more.
when hes on these types of shows hes gotta get his jokes out in like 5 minutes so he cant drag em out. thats why theyre not as funny....but hilarious regardless
i'm almost ok with that. I love introducing him to friends of mine that don't know about him. If he was as big as Dane Cook I think it would just be sad.
Brian's career started earlier in the 90s and Jim's bloomed in the early 00s. I'd say Brian wins by seniority. Also; don't quote me but Brian's as clean as a shower in continuous use...I remember Jim using some off-color comedy...but hes relatively clean so I don't quite remember.
It's sad that the audience there that night didn't seem to really be getting into his act. I think he's one of the most outright hilarious comics out there now.
Don't whine about less intelligent people and then say doesn't not. Just because he doesn't use certain words doesn't make him better or more intelligent than other comedians. The quality of his comedy does. He could curse and be just as funny while other comedians could refrain from cursing and still not be funny. Try not to place so much weight on things that don't matter.
The thing is, less intelligent people will laugh at the mere tone of a swear word even though it doesn't not resemble a joke on it's own. I think it is complete mastery that Brian Regan's brand of comedy is so comical without the use of "filler".
Brian Regan has been one of the funniest comics on the planet for over 2 decades...and he's got the talent to do it cleanly. He doesn't have to do what less talented comics do and resort to cursing or racism.
not all comics who use cursing or racism as part of their act are less talented. thats just the type of stuff they find funny and so does their audience. race can be halarious and if used right cursing can be extremely funny as well.
I think he meant to say '50 pages a minute'... he said it in one of his other ones but he said 'words' instead in this performance. It's a lot funnier that other way, since 50 words per minute is pretty damn slow reading.
the band is told the last punch line he'll finish with so they know when to start playing... because he repeated "planet of the apes", they probably weren't sure if he was really finished... i'd guess that brian was done and was waiting for the band to kick in.
Haha indeed!!! I LOVE (besides all of his jokes) the "Planet of the Apes" part, when he's talkin' about how there isn't the title of the movie at the top when you watch one. Hilarious stuff.
