I would believe I-10 in Houston has surpassed this freeway in terms of width. There's a stretch where, counting connecting and non-express lanes it's about 28 lanes wide.
I think this one is more aesthetically pleasing, though.
I once took Hwy-10 in Quebec in heavy snowfall on my way to Montreal. There was like 20 quebecers that slid off the road. The French are crazy drivers. Never again will I ever go to Canada in the winter.
Canada has some wonderful designed freeways..I'm leaving San Francisco next weekend for a trip up to Vancouver...I'm planning on taking U.S. 97 between I-5 and Bend, OR....How's the road on that stretch? Is the terrain high desert in the Bend area?
I've only seen US 97, from Klamath Falls to I-5. It's nothing too interesting, to be completely honest, although I never did see the stretch north of Klamath Falls. One very interesting side trip is the Lava Beds Nat'l Monument, not a far drive from US 97, although it's a day trip...something to keep in mind, if you have the time.
when i first found out the busiest freeway in North America (wikipedia) was in Canada i was pretty shocked, i was assuming it would be interstate 405 in Los Angeles.
There's a stretch that tops 504,000 vpd during the summer months! It remains at over 400,000 vpd during the summer months for almost 20 miles. The 427 freeway also tops 400,000 vpd during the summer months (yes, they have winter time vs. summer time counts from the Ontario Ministry Of Transportation). The 404 also tops 330,000 vpd at one point, while others easily top 200,000 in the region. Toronto can rightfully claim to having one of the top 3 busiest freeway networks, worldwide!
You see out-of-state plates ALL the time in Toronto. In fact, I counted 8 vehicles in 5 days with California plates. I also saw several from New Jersey, Florida at least twice a day, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina...really, all the east coast states. I also saw Idaho, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Illinois and Utah.
I drive from Mississauga to downtown Toronto everyday for work, and not a day goes by that I don't see at least 3 or 4 US plates. From all over the states.
@NYGiantsFan845 In the summer time there are more American state license plates on those stretches than Canadian, especially QEW from Toronto to Niagara Falls lol

Interesting how they have that express lanes - distributor/collector lanes thing happening. Guess it helps to keep traffic flowing better.

The 401's awesome looking. Gotta put it on my list to drive.

Lol 30+ lanes that would be cool. I wonder how long it takes before some Phoenix or Houston freeway overtakes the 401 in terms of traffic volumes.
