  • and for those of you dumb ones.... u have to have after burner to go super sonic... he prowler does not have after burners( after burners to gain more speed and cute thru the air like a knife thru butter)

  • @181HondaRider "u have to have after burner to go super sonic... "

lmfao, do some research before calling others "dumb ones", you dumbass. ever heard of the word supercruise?

  • @igrenade wow stop trying to act all tough on youtube thats sad.... super cruise is NOT SUPERSONIC its below supersonic

  • @181HondaRider

i'm acting all tough because i pointed out your mistake? you're an obdurate dumbass, i told you to do research and you came back with a poor attempt to save yourself from embarrassment.

"Supercruise is sustained supersonic flight of an aircraft with a useful cargo, passenger, or weapons load performed efficiently and without the use of afterburners ("reheat")."

  • The most dangerous piece of real estate in the Navy.

  • r they supersonic?

  • @camden199 Hell no they're not super sonic. These old ass jets would fall apart at the seams if they even attempted it.

  • That is one heck of a ride.

  • takes off on average heavier than an f-18 and is not equipped with afterburners because it doesn't need them! hahahaha

  • DAMN those fuckers are loud

  • @gunguy121 they also got a dog leg in their tail pipes that adds to the noise. Hits a frequency that makes your teeth buzz...

  • what wave off??????

  • coolest....shit....ever...

  • did anyone notice that the radioactive symbol is on its nose

  • @sablek794 That's not a radioactive sign. It is a marking simply to distinguish a Prowler from an A-6 Intruder, both of which look alike but require different weight settings for trap purposes. The "roman cross" tells the LSOs and pri-fly by sight how the trap cables need to be set.

  • Nice vid. I was a 6668 AT back in the late '80s, and I worked on these birds. I always look for the tail number on these, as I remember all of them. Go Prowlers!

  • That engine my fellow Americans you hear is somewhat similar (yes very different) to the popular MD-80 series JT8D. It actually derived from it and that whine/scream I'm sure you all have heard before.

  • @iheart707 Yes I always noticed the similarities. Even the old 737-200's had the same scream. I wonder if they're similar engines, but surely the EA-6B engines must be more powerful than the MD-80/737 engines.

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x You could look up the numbers to be exact. However I see some major differences. One of which deals with the weight. The MD-80's carry hundreds of passengers while these fighter jets carry two people with some weapons. I'm sure that they need all the thrust they can get, but I wouldn't be surpirised to see if they were downrated a bit due to the different masses on the different airframes.

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Sound does not define power. Sound can tell you something about the nature of the engine, e.g. MD-80 is a high-bypass fan jet (noise abated for environmental reasons; fan jets have better low-altitude rev-up performance). EA6-B is a turbojet...no by-pass, therefore it screams a bit!

  • Why the heck are there 4 people onboard?

  • They operate a whole lot of ECM equipment, this bird is stuffed with it.

And no, the Prowler is not the loudest aircraft in the world, that would be the Russian Tu-95 turboprop bomber. Four sets of contra-rotating, supersonic propellers.

  • Oh yeah. I saw the Bear on Discovery Channel.

Submarine trackers can track a bear, so loud!

  • @LukRacer probably pilot, co-pilot, and two jamming people (who use the equipment on board) correct me if I'm wrong!

  • I have only one word to describe that, DAMN!!!!

  • Got to turn my volume down just to watch the video. MAN that is one loud bird!

  • @aell0111 And why is that?? According to the Navy Times, the prowler was traditionally designed for jamming radars. Now in the 21st century, we use those planes to jam terrorist phone calls, etc.

  • what did you say at the end?

  • those are the loudest aircraft on the flight deck!

  • Powlers are the loudest aircraft in the world. Louder than all fighters included.

  • @jobbins008 No they aren't, 2 J52s are fairly quiet compared to others.

  • @jobbins008 Just your speaker volumn is too high.

  • wheres the wave off??????????????

  • @gustavorocha78 I think he means waved off because the Prowler was brought up to the cat, but was taxied forward past the cat and folded for some reason.

  • @gustavorocha78 At 0:14 watch them signal with their hand across their throats and then watch as the Aircraft continues down the deck while folding its wings boak up. Pay attention.

  • @elijah4433 sorry, but the wave off only happens IN FLYGHT!!! When the airplane aborts the landing.... my father is a naval aviator

  • @gustavorocha78 Then, perhaps he can teach you to spell, flight.

  • @gustavorocha78 I think he meant the guys waving their hands...LOL!

  • Great vid!

  • so fast.!

  • People in the white shirts are the LSOs, right?

  • Yes

  • thanks!

  • or Safety mainly Safety's LSO's are behind the Waist Cats :) -ABE2 (AW)

  • Thank you!

  • One thing about this video, remember to turn the sound up on your computer as loud as possible. Guess what, it still ain't close to what you hear on an active flight deck.

  • why do they use the prowler? isnt it slow as hell?

  • They are actually switching to the E-18 Growler to do the same electronic warfare missions.

  • i though hawkeyes did the electronic warefare missions.....

  • They serve as AWACS. The dont to electironic warfare.

  • THANK YOU..Dang that brings back memories!!

  • These planes jam radar, notice how big the top of the tail section is.

VulcanBikeWizard is telling the truth, these are the loudest planes known to man. I was on the USS Ranger in an A6 squadron and when they would launch one of these I would cram my cranium into the sides of my head. They will rattle your teeth and make your ears bleed!

  • Earplugs?

  • I wonder what one of these can do in action?!

  • these E6 do bombing mission.

  • No actually they dont. The A-6 Intruders were attack bombers. The EA-6 Prowler is used for aerial recon and electronic jamming and electronic countermeasure. The primary US Navy aircraft for bombing now is the F/A-18 Hornets. The EA-6 Prowler supports the Hornets during these missions. At most they carry up to 4 HARM anti-radar missiles for taking out tracking/targeting radar systems and remote SAM sites.

  • @elli782 Well they could block terrorist cellphone calls.

  • Great vid, the EA-6B is the loudest airplane I have ever seen. So loud the bones in your head and the teeth in your skull rattle. I was almost blown over the side of the Saratoga by one.

  • Awesome vid! For this this old Navy vet, the loudest plane was the F-4 Phantom! 20yrs later it still gives my the shivers!

  • Are you on the Kitty Hawk? If you are, take a film of my son and send it to me LOL. (Just a mom's wish)

  • qa sucks
