This song came out when the big 3 had jobs for all in the UAW god bless everyone!! those were the days if i applied in 78 at chrysler's i would of drawn a good penision
Un monument de la musique Disco, j'avais 17 ans et les jeunes s'amusaient beaucoup, mais alors beaucoup plus que ceux d'aujourd'hui. Merci Monsieur Edwin Starr.
Tu écoutes H.A.P.P.Y Radio et instantanément, tu danses...
A monument of the Disco music, I was 17 years old and youngs people have so much more fun much than those of today, really so much more. Thank you Mr Edwin Starr.
You listenings H.A.P.P.Y Radio and instantaneously, you start dancing…
this has to be coming from 79 because it saved my ass in bootcamp a dozen times. and in sub school, and once the boat heard it, we were all fans. of course, WAR was his most famous hit, this had to have put him on the charts, in the top ten, i hope.
@QUASARA - Artists like Edwin Starr and many others who had hits in the early 70's were fledglings artists until disco came out. Songs like this were massive barn-burner hits for these artists and the record companies that produced them and they were back on top. H.A.P.P.Y. Radio was in the early top ten for weeks! Along with his other hit "Contact" in 1978-79'. I remember this hit going to the disco back then. There were lines a mile long with no parking availible! And when this song played,-
cont) you couldn't get on the dance floor! It was that popular. I couldn't describe what it was like back then. especially to young kids today. You had to be there to experience it! It was fantastic!
i was 5 when it first came out,i'm french,i was absolutly crazy about this jam!believe me years later when i became a dj,i played it so many times, and i actualy cried when i found out that he died!
On the morning of my first real job my clock radio woke me up to this song. I taped it and played it all that summer. I'm going to use it again. It does get you going.
when i was 13 in 1997 i discovered disco. my mum had a friend in the uk that sent me an original mix tape from 1979 that had this on it. it is simply one of the best uplifting disco songs ever. "Contact" is also brilliant.Found "HAPPY Radio" lp for 5 dollars a coupla years back..people don't know what they are missing..DISCO forever
So excellent you posted the LP version of this. My copy burned in a fire. Love it. This was so popular at the discoss and is rarely played, even the short version.
Man we played this for a fanfare in our college band. This is SOooooooooo Crazy
