The more I listen to Natalie Cole riffing on songs like this and others, it becomes clear how underrated Natalie Cole was and is. She def. has stellar talent, with her own unique phrasings and style to her songs. But this should come as no surprise because we sometimes forget who her father was!
@TheCongenital Amy WInehouse was a talented singer, but we will never know what Amy WInehouse could do better now that she is gone. In my opinion, Ms. Cole can sabg circles around a lot of singers. Just enjoy the music and stop the comparisons. Enough said!
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
my love is my music,,,il try to swim in this rough seas when my mr melody leaves me...ive been swimming in it when he left without a word but came back to say hello n most likely hell just formally have to say goodbye for us to be at peace,,respect even just that moment...i can see ppl happy about it anyway n women cueing now..
the backup arrangements are so crazy here- I to this day think Natalie should offer her funky backup blend to modern artist. When she mixes that high and higher note the result is just insane! Cole-fire music, Colettes, Cole-arama have all been names Natalie has named her arrangements but I prefer Cole-fire music.
I saw her perform at a Disco in Fort Lauderdale in 1976 following the release of her second album containing this song. It was before she really hit it big and she was fantastic. I'll never forget the image of her performing on that small stage. Natalie you are the best!
man oh man sista Natalie blows the hell out of this song. It is hers and hers all alone. Natalie you are Misses Melody and don't forget it. You are in my prayers and the best to you in health love and happiness. My girl.
I was18 or 19 singing this song with Natalie C. surprised anytime I found myself going from elation to tears. Stilled, I'd dismiss the experience, unable to put it into words; simply moving into the next song or part of my day. Looking back from "here" I realize a note chimed in my spirit by the dance of her voice...was a witness to "my Father's" handiwork in me, even from birth. I'm forever grateful to "Mr. Melody" in my life...The world's a better place when we're together.
Can someone please post the original version of Sophisticated Lady by Natalie Cole? I don't really like live versions of songs because the artists sing them totally different and they sound terrible!! THANKS!!
Hey, is anyone able to upload Sophisticated Lady? There is a live version uploaded on here, but it doesn't sound that great...there is nothing like the original!! Thanks!!
I LOVE HER JAZZY STYLE AND VOICE...AND HER SCANTS, MARVELOUS!!!! SO GLAD I GREW UP IN THE LATE 1960s AND THROUGHOUT THE 1970s!!!! I MISS THOSE TIMES SO MUCH!!!! THEY'RE GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!!!!
yes indeed. but the new generation love the shit of 50 cent and other,... HATE THE MUSIC that is now playing and I'm 27 years old. I'm very happy that my mom let me listen too good music of her years, now I know what's good.
@ikkkei I'm like you, I'm 26 and I can only listen to so much of our generation of music. Lets face it! Old School is the best. You think Chaka Khan, Patti, Aretha, Stevie Wonder and all of them wish they could have grew up in our time? Hell No! They knew how to make music back then. They sang about life literally. It was more than just singing about bitches and hoes and fly cars and iced out chains and diamonds. These singers tell a story thru song. Genius.
@ikkkei good music is still being made, we just have to dig a little deeper. I am the new generation and in love with music of all ages (no 50 cent for me though). Very much into Rox and Rumer right now, check them out.
@ikkkei that ain't treu. i'm a hiphop producer and i love this kind of music. hiphop listeners LOVE THIS MUSIC and i am 19 years old. you just judge people who listen to other music. now STOP HATING AND LISTEN to the music.
Brings back memories. I absolutely love this song!! The radio stations refuse to play it at all anymore. I hear old songs once in awhile that I haven't heard in years, but I have yet to hear this song. Thanks for posting it because that's the only way I get to hear it. Just on a lark, typed in the title and there it was!! :) Thank you for posting.

Thanx for the post Steve. This one of my favorite songs of hers as well as the duets she does with her dad(smile)The KING "Nat" King Cole!!! Please pass on to her or anyone that can how we are cheering her on while she fights hepatitis C. She is too beautiful and talented to give up. Don't feel that God is through with you yet Natalie Cole. We all are standing with you as you regain your health. Shalom...Vaya Condios...Ah Shah Alla...God Speed to you Ms. Cole for health and happines
