I have a horse I already grow bananas, plantains, and oranges. I also have a large sum of handguns, shot guns, and various rifles. If you are trained to cope with the harsh conditions and have local survival tips I would say that here in Alaska would be one of the safest places. Gun Awareness is something that we learn really young. Ive participated in -50 below survival training, and an abandonment drill, stuck in the wilderness for a week w/ a day and a half of food, and a jetboil. Learning to respect nature and cope with her conditions are priority #1, after that you can use her to your full advantage.

If an 8.0 hit in that region, you would see damage throughout the Mississippi Valley, as well as in major cities along the east coast. Aside from that, the damage in the fault area would cripple the central part of the country. There are ZERO earthquake resistant structures in the New Madrid area.

Canada is also much better of a planned escape route then south to Mexico. Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and parts of Idaho / Montana are much better options.

A lot of work has been done on the fault by the university of missouri columbia & the  Missouri State Springfield Geologists. It last blew in 1811-1812 so you do the math. There are two fema concentration camps in northern arkansas, one outside of eureka springs at berryville (former concentration camp for japanese americans in WWII) and another one just down highway 65 past the mo/ark border at Omaha. I would stay away from NW arkansas if I were you.
