1) Blu ray can support more memory, which in turn = More Entities and connections and makes it so that you don't have to rely on your console for environment rendering as much.

2) PS3 has better support with computer technology, I.E. cross-play/Steam, web browsing, Java, flash.

3)PS3 is, In general, more reliable.

The reason this game is coming out on PS3 is because it is utilizing another system in conjunction with their game on PC. How much fun would it be if you had to go buy another game to switch back and forth on for your computer just so you can get the full experience, that's why you rely on all of the FPS tryhards that play on consoles to do your work while you battle in space and build your shit.

@MrD33tz In Eve online there is something called Planetary Interaction. Players extract resources from the planets for manufacturing purposes. In Eve, player-owned corporations go to war over territory (Regions of space) for the resources they provide, Rats, Mining and "P.I". Dust will take this a step further and allow Corporations and Alliances that are invading each others space to fight not only over the solar systems in the region, but the individual planets too. In a nutshell....

As I understand it, dust 514 was cancelled for Xbox and is going to be for ps3 only due to the eve team wanting it to be free and xbox charging. So it'll be a free dlc on the psn summer 2012. Sorry xbox

It's the fact that Microsoft wanted exclusive rights to the servers, meaning that they'd be separate from the EVE online servers, which ruins the whole point of the game. Also, when CCP said they wanted it to be free, they're referring to LIVE on 360 costing money. Since Dust is online only and Live costing money, it'd essentially become pay to play. They didn't want that.

The idea is that this game will keep expanding and in the future, the two games will be so integrated that the EVE players can actually supervise the battle themselves, give orders and even give support through orbital bombardment among others.

At least that's the way they want it and that's one of the reasons they didn't want it on 360, because since you need to pay for LIVE, you'd essentially be paying to play and you're not even paying them.

In EVE we [PC gamers] cannot go planetside. Our facilities there to mine resources and such need to be defended and our enemies' attacked and taken over-well not now but that will happen when Dust is implemented. We will hire the console gamers' corporations to do this. SO, they'll be contracted. They may fulfull the contract, they may not. Anything goes in EVE and that is what makes it so great.

Being spyied or backstabed in Eve does not mean "game over".

The equivalent of such a situation in Eve would be at least your ship and money are taken from you.

@MrXevier dust is tied into a sandbox mmo, the choices made in eve affects the choices in dust, also, the choices in dust affects the the choices in eve, this is called chaos theory, a never ending, infinite string of infinite paths based on the choices made. the trailer demonstrates one path of the infinite possible paths. what the players do in both games build a unique time line unlike any other mmo that just has a simple story or motion the player follows.
