  • Vaughn was the real deal... Thanks for posting!

  • we acted out this song in 3rd grade. happy times

  • Gotta love that voice...so seldom hear a baritone on the airwaves anymore.

  • Excellent version of this Stan Jones" song...respect for mr Monroe

  • This is a fantastic version and beautifully sung. No equals but some close.

  • A classic song by the original artist sung like he just came out of the sky himself,,,God what a voice...can never be duplicated. Thanks for the post!!!

  • This to me is the best version of them all.

  • As much as I like Burl Ives, This version of the song is the best ever done.

  • I still have the original 78 of VM singing this song!!

  • Great song !!!!!!

  • I was a senior in HS in'49 and Vaughan was my favorite singer and went to his

restaurant/nightclub in Framingham, MA - The Meadows for my prom. nanwisch

  • when men were men women were women...

  • @hihats I agree, now we cannot make out who is who. Everyone looks the same.

  • This is it!! WHAT A SONG !

  • Every other version of this song is sissy, by comparison.

  • @emerald825 Checking with Wikipedia u r correct! Burl Ives recorded the song 26 days before Vaughn Monroe did, so i stand corrected. But in the best spirit of my comment , Burl Ives got only as high as #21 for 6 weeks on the charts, in '49 While Mr Monroe's recording made it to #1,with 22 weeks on the charts in the same year 1949..And also according to Wikipedia, though this song was covered by more than 50 artists, to this day, VM's recording, is by far the biggest seller., Respectfully!

  • I agree. I grew up listening to Monroe's version of Ghost Riders in the Sky. From the Sons of the Pioneers to my favorite country singer, Johnny Cash, no one can sing it better than Vaughn Monroe.

I'm so glad, my memory still works at 68. It took me a bit of time, but I finally remembered Monroe's name :)

  • One of the most covered cowboy songs of all times. .....No one, but no One sings it like its original recording artist Vaughn Monroe........".i need a haircut,, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up" , lol

  • We lost Vaughn Monroe way too soon ! Maybe he is a ghost rider for real now ! But in a nice way.

  • sound a bit like the theme of the hidden village is zelda

  • He died way too young.

  • Brings back memories from the 50's. a great time in my life.

  • My dad used to play this song on the organ years ago. I never knew the words until recently. Great song! Loved it since I was a kid!!!

  • This was my dad's favorite song and he loved VM doing it. I wish he was still alive to see this video.........thanks for sharing so others can enjoy it!!! ;-)

  • A great song, but VM did it far better than anyone else. I've seen looking for this for decades. Thanks for posting.

  • ONE of the All Time Great Singers! A outstanding Voice! Very Unique!

This was a great HIT in the 50's! Many Great recording of it! This was one of he BEST along with the Sons of the Pioneers!

  • Was there ever a singer with a better voice? Thanks for posting.

  • FANTASTIC ! MY FAVORITE COUNTRY SONG !

  • Thank you so much! Sooner or later the word will get back out. Marvelous!
