what about the flavorings used in the eliquids? they usualy come from food flavorings. would it cause more health concerned inhaled as opposed to ingestion?

I have two issues with this device. First it is not at the moment regulated, meaning no oversight and this has implications for quality control. A very similar and cheaper chemical similar to propylene glycol is diethylene glycol and can be a contaminant. Second is the atomizer. What is it made of? When ever you run a DC current through metals in the presence of H2O you will strip electrons and ionize the metal, which you than inhale. This may have biological consequences.

You often see these E-cigarrete cartridges with flavours like tobacco flavor , menthol flavor, or even fruit flavors

Those flavors are simulated flavors. They are synthetic chemicals. Anyone have further info regarding the saftety of these chemicals?

Just because a doctor is promoting it does not mean its safe. Earlier in this century doctors and scientists were freely promoting radio active liquids as health drinks before they discovered the dangers of radioactivity

@Eye0fTheStorm The flavors is food grade essences, and they are FDA approved and used in our current food supply and available in your local grocery.

You are absolutely correct, so you should not believe the doctors that are supported by the FDA and pharma industry, because they are not providing any proof to the contrary. There have been 17 STUDIES in labs , so science is stating this, it is not his opinion, it is solid science.

Cont...  Parental responsibility includes teaching children about avoiding addiction. The e- cigarette will certainly not do that. There is much that is being left un-said about personal responsibility. I feel this is irresponsible of you at best

Dr Baron, I would like to hear your position on individuals using the e-cigarette when they can not afford daily necessities. After all, we both know this is not a true cessation aid. What is the point in encouraging people to continue what we both are well aware is an addiction.

a little off subject, but I would suggest vaping the menthol flavor when you have a cold, it's like smoking a stick of vix! :)

@wopwopwopwopwo vicks vapo rub relieves the effects of cold or flu like symptoms because menthol relaxes the bronchial tubes. if you dont have an inhaler and you have chest pains when you have asthma, mint, or menthol can help relieve teh chest pains.

no i'm not a doctor, but the doctor i work for suggested that to me when i was having trouble breathing at work one day and my inhaler was empty.

I've been vaping since October, 2009. I was diagnosed with Chronic Bronchitis originally back in 1993, and this diagnosis was revized to Asthma in 2009. While I've never had an issue with vaping in relation to my Asthma, would you say that I couls be doing any damage or causing a risk by vaping with already established Asthma?

I work for Coca-Cola, and caffeine in some of these energy drinks we sell can and will cause heart palpatations, among other issues if too much is consumed.
