I think this song is reiligious and so joyfull too. Arrue !!!

  • Even without teriimatahas explains below some month ago, one can hear that the song Te Tiaoro (the call) have a very special meaning. It seems the Polynesians are really talented to bring important messages in the right way to the people.

    Amazing, amazing ... !!

  • very graceful....love the costumes:):):)

  • Nothing like being there in person.. it was an awesome show that video just can't capture fully. All the Heiva dancers were awesome!

  • My heart is always in Polynesia.

Lots of love to the polynesian people.

  • wow amazing

  • Merci pour ça. Il est possible de voir et entendre dans cette performance une vision fugitive de ce qui est caché dans l'air de tahiti. Je crois que le sens contenu dans ces mots est très profond, connu dans Tahiti pendant des siècles. Thanks for the translation. It's important for understanding the video.

  • merci pour les commentaires

  • que hermosoo, videoo, me encanta la coordinaion de estas mujeres!! es sensacional la presentacion de estas chicas!!

  • The description of people playing music for the birth of the child reminds me of a Hawaiian story about the birth of a woman, her name was Mary Pukui. There was a woman/ghost named 'Ewe'ewe'iki. She died in childbirth with the babe in her womb. She would cry 'Ewe'ewe to foretell the birth of children. The day before Pukui was born, her grandmother heard the 'ewe'ewe cry so she called out, "Thank you, we will wait for the birth."

    Tekakaromatagi

  • te reo tero tauifaaroo te reo notemanava tereo no te aroha te reoturnama tou manao turama te oraroa....[[ahahah]]

  • go on

  • dat goddamned tahiti banjo it put a big smile on my face everytime :)))

  • urana iz a haole but ilove da music and da dance

we need some love in dis world go guys

  • So now I know.

  • wow!!!!!!!!! go girls

  • definitely tahitian dance is way better than hawaiian dance.

  • yah right! hula is the best!

  • I luv this dance and the music is sad that it makes me cry everytime i listen to it.. yes is it on DVD... WHERE CAN I GET IT..it reminds me of roots..

  • the hula oringanated from tahiti the the raros picked up on it... NOT THE HAWWIANS... the tahitians upgrade their moves and everyone else just seems to copy... this is beautiful love red

  • that is the most dumbest thing that i have ever heard! Hawaiians keep THEIR tradtions the same because changing it in any way shows DISRESPECT to your culture. hula was an art that was developed by hawaiians, not tahitians! get it straight! oh yah, and you spelt HAWAIIANS wrong!

  • Since the first Hawaiians came from Tahiti/Raiatea/Bora Bora, and the word HULA/HURA is a common root word through out all the Polynesian island which means "dance" or "dancing", I suspect your statement is misinformed and uneducated.

  • hula was first developed by the Tahitians, then when the tahitians migrated to hawaii they took hula with them. All pacific islanders know tahitians run the show when it comes to hula, changin moves 2 a dance doesnt disrespect culture, as long as the ppl know wat is happenin behind the dance and the meanin of the song then the whole msg of it all is passed on.jeez. i hate it wen hawaiians try to take credit of hula.n i shouldnt care coz im tongan lol

  • You're such a lo-lo! Hula originated from Tahitians. Hawaiians are originally from Tahiti! Duh! Changing traditional dance doesn't disrespect it, it adapts it to the present.

  • so beautiful!

  • anyone see any boys cause the only boys i saw were the drummers and o im really confused

  • One Word "PERFECT"

  • Takitain Hula is totally different from Hawaiian hula...right...???

  • there`s not such thing as tahitian hula , hula its only from Hawai'i.

The "slow" tahitian dances are called Aparimas ( not sure about the spelling)

  • ya dere iz

  • not really..depens if ur a haole or not

    lol XD

  • J'observe cette vidéo chaque matin. Chaque matin il me fait le cri, mais je suis heureux.

  • Un show absolument fabuleux.. existe il une cassete video ou un DVD de ce spectacle .. c est feerique.

just a query in case my french is a disaster .. does this fabulous show exists on DVd or tape by any chance ?

hugs to you all from London UK

  • ha... so nice. Man, I miss home...

  • my girlfriend is in this......im so proud of her....i keep losing these tapes but hey thanks teriimataha for putting this on.....the memeories....i love her...lol

  • Wow! Very attractive dance. And pretty and handsome Polynesian dancers. How I hope these dancers can perform in Singapore one day..Hopefully the Singapore Tourism Board could invite them and promote their culture as well...

  • The tahitian uke is beautiful. That first strum in the begining gives me goosebumps. The way the vahine move to it is so smooth and liquid. O tahiti E is my most favorite group....and yes more than Les grand ballet de tahiti. even though O tahiti E has modern moves they are much more traditional than Les grand ballet and i am from thee old skool, althoug learning and loving the modern. Maururu. Post more recent ones soon please.

  • I love the video. what's the name of the first song "Te reo" or "te tiaoro"?

  • TE TIAORO is the name of the spectacle and E REO of this specific dance

  • I love this group... thanks for posting...more please!!

  • Mahalo ia oe no keia wikio 'o Heiva.

  • you're Maeva (welcome).

  • This dance is unique,

    I congratulate to the author.

    Alex

  • This is mean! I even got the video back home in Hawaii... This is my favorite and I even got to watch them live!!!

  • Woow ! hope some day i can dance like they

  • i love the aparima they do!!! what is it called and what is it about? from what VERY little tahitian i can recognize...i think in the beginning it keep talking about the voice...or saying something. but i'm not sure. thank you again so much for sharing. = )

  • Iaorana, please read of the commet top right of the video I put lyrics to help you understanding the topic. Mauruuru

  • LOL! i wish my group was as good as yours

  • Yes, I have both of these videos and I like them both. I think the 1998 show was a sign of things to come, namely the birth of Les Grands Ballet Tahiti, as it was very modern, both in choregraphy and costumes. I still think I favor the Te Tiaoro show because it was more traditional, yet it was quite revolutionary in many ways.

  • This is one of my favorite Heiva performances of all time!! This entry by O Tahiti E pretty much took Tahitian dancing to another level. Thanks for posting all these beautiful videos!!

  • This is the show they danced in 1997. Do you know the one of Heiva 1998 (they won first prize this year too)? Next post i'll share this very amazed show

  • I will agree with you on that.
