i think this song is making fun of emo bands, in general. There isnt any deep meaning to the lyrics. Ween is basically mocking the whiney lyrics of emo bands (i.e. "i get so scared" "feel the feeling" "i'm in a very defensive place").
For example, I heard Gener say in an interview that "Spiritwalker" is basically a rip on bands who use autotune.
@Fetrey Good theory, but I think it is about wife beaters(not the shirts, the men)but that's the beauty of Ween so many meanings for so many people,in the neighborhood!
"like a yellow worm with teeth" cements the idea that this song is about blink 182...and more so tom from that band... i used to listen to blink when i was younger and tom wrote a song about a tapeworm i remember
man i dont think anyone should say this song is as deep as opiate withdrawal....its most definetely making fun of blink 182...the whole album is making fun or poking fun at different bands....R.e.m. , Tool, Muzak, Burning Spear, (if you listened to the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. ep you also got to hear them make fun of Cher and NIN)
Anyone else think of Tripping Daisy when they first heard this song? (Hell, does anyone else REMEMBER Tripping Daisy?) Something about the vocals in this song and the alt-pop vibe reminded me of "Elastic Firecracker."
I've never touched heroin in my life. Just b/c one knows the symptoms of heroin withdrawal doesn't mean they are a previous addict. Wasn't Gener in rehab for opiates when this was written? Think about it.
fuck yes! this song is about all too much, for so many people! GOOD ART! "My body aches, and I feel alone... I'm in a very defensive place, shamemaker!"
I could be about so many different things... that chemical of shame itself, the portion of the brain that makes us feel that way, the person inspiring the shame... christ. The list goes on! Try hard and think about what makes YOU feel shameful, person reading this!
Ha I think plenty, I just know better than to try and find hidden meaning in Ween songs. Furthermore, getting all touchy feely about a song that was created to mock whiny emo bitches is just plain silly.
this has to ba a nod to phill's own 'dead milkmen'.

This song sounds like it's making fun of a Blink 182 song. Or one of the other countless shitty bands that sounds the same.

The first time I heard this song I immediately thought it was about opiate/heroin withdrawal.
"My body aches, and I feel alone" - two symptoms of withdrawal
"Feel it in the belly, like a yellow worm with teeth" opiate withdrawal results in stomach pain
"I'm in a very defensive place" - opiate addiction and withdrawal makes people irritable and defensive.
Just my opinion...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
interesting but its obviously from a heroin users point of view, dont associate everything with the type of drug(s) you abuse

Way to jump to conclusions, douchebag.

That's retarded logic. You don't need to be able to cook in order to tell when something tastes bad.

I do believe you've decided to not think much at all. A dire mistake, I'm afraid.
