All good soldiers know very well there is nothing to fear while they do what is right, and forget all the worries they have met in their duties through the year.

A soldier cannot always be great, but he can be a gentleman and he can be a right good pal to his comrades in his squad.

So all you soldiers listen to this – Deal fair by all and you’ll never be amiss.

Be Brave! Be Just! Be Honest and True Men!

    LEST WE FORGET

  • I am so so proud to be an Australian. A day like ANZAC Day is a day of rememberance, the fallen diggers, and those who continue to this day to serve for our great country and also our younger brothers in the great country of NZ. We treat these events with great significance. We always have memories of getting up at 4:45am to go to the dawn service on a cold morning. These memories live in our minds for our generation and the next. Well done Australia and New Zealand you do your countries proud

  • never knew it was ment to be used for bed time

  • every single time i hear this, always gets to me. And it always fires me up. Even if I'm having a shit day, just listen to this and everything just goes. Everything but Australia and it's soldiers, what they do for us. Fkn A i'm proud to be an Aussie.

  • @cubed213 on ANZAC day this year (2011) me and my Cadet unit (49 ACU-Smithfield) were goven the honour to be the honur gurd at the dawn service at Salisbury RSL, marching for the WW1 vickers HMG battalians &their banners and pole regiments, we also were aloud to be ther hour guard at the Adelaide footy grouds whiloe vertans in jeeps passed us

at the dawn service when this was playing i started to cry a 2nd luitenant came ans thought i was sicked and was toughed when she found out i was crying:)

  • From the distance a Noise was heard and those that understood rested because the others had been awoken.

  • this is a sound that makes me proud to be born in the greatest country in the world, but at the same time fills me with sorrow, the thought of what those brave men a women have gone through so that we can be free, only a true aussie know what the tune really means and represents

    Much Respect for the ANZACS

  • This song means so MUCH TO AUSTRALIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MsRoyalmarine thanks but no australian women have died in our defence force in a combat zone, sorry just really gets me

  • @adflwf

Um, so what about Nurses or other staffing women that have died in combat zones.?????????? What about Australian women NOT in the defence forces, killed during WW2 by the Japs.? learn some history before you whinge about bullshit, moron.

  • @adflwf Read the histroy books you stupid idiot. What about Vivan Bullwinkle the sole survior of a group of nurses mown down by the japanese.

Do some research before saying something stupid like that

  • @pagantruckie umm, yeah about that, the nurses got that good, the soldiers were bayonetted on the beach, not a clean shot, stabbed in the gut. whilst tied up.

  • Joining the army when i leave college hoping to be posted in afghanistan after training god bless all soilders old generation and new

  • Aussie pride mate ;)

  • i cry everytime i hear this. was played at my Grandfathers funeral.

  • To pmb79. Thankyou for posting the words. The tune was enough to put shingles down my spine as we remember our fallen however, the words cut though in a way in which I can't describe. Mate all I can say is, Thankyou to the Men and Women who fought for our very freedom. You're always in our hearts, our minds and memories. Lest We Forget.

  • @zombie4777 Thanks mate, cheers!!

    We will remember them.

  • At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them, We Will Remember Them (Not; At the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them, LEST WE FORGET) It is the last goodbye to all fallen of the Great War, not just ANZAC's, but all war dead.. I have been here in Oz (and yes, I am a Pom, and yes I served 22 Years in the Pom army) but now I am here serving in the ADF..

  • @Martin69362 It seems to me you don't deserve the pride of either nation with dribble like that coming from your fingertips. Why be so trivial? Stand up straight, STFU and be proud of all of our soldiers!

  • I'm so sorry everyone. I'm just gonna take that first comment off. I really didn't mean to start anything and I am so sorry that I offended you. :'-(

  • @wwemagpie

Don't worry mate, The Ozzies think they have a monopoly on national pride... especially the immigrants that are not from scotland or mother england, the poem, that famous poem, that ends, at the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them, ends " we will remember them" but in Oz it ends "Lest we forget" That is the title......But hey, if where not for the pomms, they would not be Ozzies...

  • Comment removed

  • @Martin69362

What are you talking about, we dont say 'lest we forget' at the end.

'Monopoly on national pride'? What are you on about?

  • @Martin69362

We do have a monopoly on national pride in Australia. As all other countries have a monopoly on national pride in their own country. And you are right, if the poms didn't send us to paradise, there would be no aussies. Isn't it just like the poms, send the convicts to a better place and you stay in the dark gloomy uk.

  • at the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

    Lest We Forget

  • @irishgodfatherchris Yeah. I shouldn't have said anything and I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I love The Last Post and I hope we can play it in Australia forever. I'm really sorry everyone :'-(

  • crap! i have to play this at my school off by heart in front of the hole school

  • Ooh dear, no no no, I didn't want to start anything! I thought the Last Post was only played in like, England and Canada and Australia, members of the Commonwalth of Nations. That's all, I didn't want to start anything. Really! Maybe I said it all wrong :-( I will want The Last Post to be forever played in Australia!

  • @wwemagpie you know there are Commonwealth Republics.

  • Comment removed

  • @wwemagpie

    HERE! HERE!

  • @wwemagpie I would be interested in how you came to this conclusion....I only served our country for 22 years in the Navy, and whether we are a republic or not has absolutely no bearing on the sacrifices that Australian Servicemen and Women have made in the past, present or god forbid, future.

  • @wwemagpie On 11h November last year I was proud to listen to this and to see the Anzac flags dipped at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. Whether you antipodean types become a republic or not, you will always be remebemred by us poms with gratitude for what you did.

  • @wwemagpie On 11h November last year I was proud to listen to this and to see the Anzac flags dipped at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. Whether you antipodean types become a republic or not, you will always be remembered by us poms with gratitude for what you did.

  • @wwemagpie

Please explain, as they say. Why on earth would we not be able to play this on ANZAC Day? Methinks you are confused.

  • @wwemagpie

Fricking bull shit what makes you think that we will stop playing this song if we become a republic

as you said a beautiful piece for the fallen and they SHALL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN !!!

you must be a POM who still loves the Union Jack get rid of it i say cause Australia wont have an identity till then

  • Supposedly there is a email going around saying that the US had the original Last Post back in the 19th century.. funny that considering there is records of Britain having theirs 2 centuries earlier.

  • I call that bugle call The Commonwealth Tap since ever soldier or peace officer in the British Commonwealth use that call.

  • on anzac we remember but we dont know all of what we remember we dont know what it was like for the men and women at war but we shall remember the most important thing there sacrifice

  • @harrison8151 women? at war...? in WW1? (quit with the PC bullshit, only the men went to war)

  • As an American bugler, I still feel the urge to learn this. It is a very good piece for remembrance.

  • love it!!

  • I feel really hounered because I'm playing this on my trumpet.

    razza779 1 second ago

  • @pmb79 Bravo bravo...you forgot to mention how all of our fallen should be buried at home.....in Oz. Your last line should be in the past, present and future tenses.
