A multi-talented lady..."a great gal" as Fred called her....and his lifelong friend. All this stuff about them hating each other was total b.s. Beside her sublime partnership with Fred, she made more than a few great individual dramatic and comedy films in the 30s and 40s...winning the Oscar in 1940. Her career declined in the late 40s, 50s, and 60s, though she was still able to rise to the occasion of a great script. She ended her career gracefully as the star of "Hello Dolly" and "Mame".
