  • @Guilhaz1 you're welcome. I didn't know it origianlly meant sea monster, so thank you for making me look it up. :)

  • @Guilhaz Yes, it literally means seamonster, but from research and ancient artifacts we've found that when they were talking about whales when they used ceta. That's why we use it for whales and dolphins. :)

  • @cakerbaker31 Its always good to learn. Thank you

  • All dolphins are whales but not all whales are dolphins. Killer whales and false killer whales are in the dolphin family. The order cetacea is greek for whale, and it's the order that all whales and dolphins are under. What separates them is family, but they are all whales, hence why they are all classified under the Order Cetacea. (I know, I'm being redundant haha)

  • @cakerbaker31 Cetacea doesn't mean whale. It comes from the words Ceta Ketus, which means sea monster.

  • In English, all the cetaceans majors of 4 meters are called whales, whereas in Spanish, whales are only the baleen whales.

  • OMG this is the music they play at my docters office all the time! :)

  • How come i've never heard of this creature until now? it's pretty cool!

  • Why false killer whale I wonder? They arn't particularly mistakable for orcas.

  • umm those were dolphins...

  • This is probably a weird reaction but they scare the shit out of me.

  • 0:39 to 0:49 is the theme song to LodgeNet hotel movie service.

  • They are false killer whales.

  • yes

  • someone, difference between 'false killer whale' and 'killer whale'?

  • Killer whale (Orcinus orca) is a large delphinid with large dorsal fin. Wears a black tuxedo with white shirt, and white spots behind the eyes. Can kill seals, whales and smaller dolphins.

False killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) is a somewhat smaller delphinid. It is black, with no eye spots and only a thin white path along the belly. Does not hunt seals and dolphins.

  • @sterzaron false killer whales hunt other dolphins, they were even observed killing a humpback calf. the teeth are very large and strong and similar to those of orcas which indicates that they are hunting other cetaceans

  • Those were pilot whales.

  • Couple of facts about False killer Whales.

This dolphin has a slender body with a dorsal fin that may be a foot high. One of the species' distinguishing characteristics is a bend and bulge (usually called the "elbow") half-way along each of the flippers. The tips of the tail fin are pointed and the middle of the tail has a distinct notch. The False Killer is uniformly coloured a dark grey to black.

These are NOT false killer whales.

  • these ARE false killer whales ---> 0:14 (you can see the head clearly)

the shape of the fin is typical for this species

  • Thats a false killer whale

  • False killer whales are dolphins and dolphins are actually small toothed whales.

  • Um, Orcas are also oceanic dolphins. So they're all dolphins.

  • Dophins and Killer Whales are both dolphins Killer Whales being the largest of the Dolphins.

A Dolphin is a subcategory of whales.. Therefore all dolphins are whales but not all whales are dolphins.

  • No, dolphins are dolphins. Whales are whales. The Killer whale is actually a dolphin, so the killer whale is a... false whale?

  • False killer whale's rammed and ruptured a friends triamaran in the S Pacific, had it been a mono hull, would have sunk.

  • Orcas ARE porpoises

    but these were Dolphins :/

  • "falsa orca" in spanish is "false killer whale" or "Pseudorca crassidens ". It's not really an orca but its size is bigger than dolphins, adult males reach a length of 5.7 m; females, 4.9 m .

  • Uh... those were dolphins...

  • orca? son delfines!

  • sono simili al grampo,io le ho viste ,ma le orche sono 100 volte piu belle.

(tutti i cetacei sono spettacolari )

  • Cool footage, but come on! What's with the Musak?

  • Whales, dolphins, and porpoises are all members of the Cetacea family. There are two types of whales, the baleen whales & toothed whales.

  • ppl killer whales/orca are part of the dolphin family and good vid crap music

  • Just to clarify: There a several sub-classes of whales, one of which is ODONTOCETI and dolphins are one family in there.

So technically dolphins are whales even if only remotely related to the large ones.

  • These aren't even dolphins,

    they're porpoises.

  • aren't dolphins whales, but whales aren't always dolphins? i kno that technically orcas are dolphins, but i thought that.

  • Just to let everyone know Orcas are not whales they are the largest speceis of dolphin. They named them killer whales because back then ppl were dumb and saw it so big that they thought it was a whale.

  • Whales and dolphins are not the same. Whales don't have dorsil fins and something else is different about the two. I can't remember.

  • Sperm whales are whales, they have teeth.

Thus, then, orcas and dolphins are whales.

  • yeha but they are still whales oO

  • Oracas ARE whales, and so are dolphins!

  • The killer whales are not really whales. They are dolphins because they have teeth.

  • @gusbalfin

    Dolphins are whales you tit!!!

  • @CircusNormal Dolphins aren't whales at all lmfaoo!!

  • @xxtasha10xx yes they are

  • @Guilhaz1 Get a clue then come back..Idiot!

  • @xxtasha10xx Not knowing something is normal, but denying something you don't know is very childish and stupid. Dolphins belong to the toothed WHALES family, Odontoceti. They are whales. Check the scientific name of any dolphin, it passes by the Toothed Whales. And I suggest that the next time you want to discuss something about dolphins, don't think ur a smartass just because you went to Sea World or whatever, theres more than that.

  • @Guilhaz1 Iv never been to seaworld dumbass! I wouldn't go to that money robbing place!

  • Comment removed

  • @gusbalfin killer whales are dolphins and dolphins are whales - toothed whales (odontoceti) thats why they have teeth(!). They are whales but not baleen whales (mysticeti), but both baleen and toothed are whales (cetacea).

Nice video, pseudorcas are so cool.

  • @gusbalfin

whales have teeth aswell, look up sperm whale

  • @gusbalfin Wrong. Killer Whales are dolphins, but not because they have teeth. Sperm whales have teeth, beaked whales have teeth, pygmy and dwarf sperm whales have teeth, and they are not dolphins.

  • @snollber They aren't whales at all...Do some research!!

  • @xxtasha10xx

they are too. They, just as other dolphins and killer whales, go under the systematic name: Odontoceti or toothed whales.

  • @snollber Well why do all scientist say that they are dolphins...Are they wrong? No i don't think so because they have been doing research for many years!

  • lol those aren't even whales...they are dolphins

  • Orca's Arent whales u dumbass :p

  • if their not orca,s then what whale are they? and wtf is with the gay elevator music ? eh lol

  • Você sabe o que é OrCA? Isso nem xega a parecer uma orca. A falsa Orca só não possui a zona ventral branca.

  • when i was at the beach there were orcas realy close to the shore and they went right next to me. but they were just riding the waves

  • what a ugly name!

  • I don't get this :S

  • i like the music.

  • Imposters! :)

  • Very nice video of false killer whales.. It proves that you don't need to go to a marine park to see beautiful animals close up!

  • It's better to see these animals in the sea. This is possible sometimes in the south coast of Tenerife, where the wheather and the sea are good all the year.

  • ya i agree

  • so true i was glad to see this is video that they r out in the wild
