  • great effort john

  • Great job!

  • Good effort though.

  • Mikee...Once again I gotta say...I enjoy the banter on here...but if I can be serious for a minute these swimming vids are brilliant...Heartbreak and Joy...Better than the Telly...Keep up the good work...I could probably swim the channel but only if I could stop off at Bars at regular intervals...Arrange this and I'll give it a go...LOL...

  • thanks for the well justified praise my little Scotish tourist.. funny you should mention bars.. why do you think i keep filming all the ferries? they are floating bars passing within a few hundred feet..

    lol

    ;-}

  • nice 1 ,now i feel sleepy

  • Gallant effort ,beautiful sunset and great music too.Must be soul destroying to come so close,but I can`t imagine trying to swim against the tide after 13 hours in the water.Well done John

    day to start the swim, so full of expectations

    I think that everyone that makes the attempt

    deserves a medal. Poor, poor John but well done for trying. The music Bittersweet i loved - appropriate!!!!!!!!!!

    5*.............Barbara

  • thanks barbara..

    john's a tryer .. he'll be back.. some people get tied to things.

    ;-}

  • You can`t beat a tryer...congatulations with your good try John

  • Excellent attempt! A hearty kudos and 5*****! What time in the night was it when he stopped? Is that typical for the current to be like that at that time? Would it have made any difference if John had started before the sun came up? -Derek

  • hi..he stopped at about 22:45 after 13 odd hours.. the tides change by about an hour a day and the pilot starts the swimmer at the optimum time of the tide regadless of the time of day..

    ;-}

  • alright!

  • Great video as always Mikee! How far is it across and would you know the fastest time mate! Cheers mate!

  • hi ed.. it's about 20 miles as the crow flies, but crows don't swim, you swim much further with the tides.. unofficial record is 6 hours 57 mins !!!

    thinking of doing it?
