@scubawrestler As gorgeous as this piece is I would not paint with quite such a broad brush. Please try listening to Allegri's "Misere Deus", or Victoria's "O Magnum Mysterium". And please let us know what you think.
@yamaho5 Because "bothering" is how others become great. I've heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version and think it is Great, also. But when it inspires others to worship other then, and only then, does it become the "GREATEST".
@Crystal0418 It took you all the way to the end to get goosebumps? ;o) As soon as the altos come in at the beginning, the chills start running down my spine.
Very nicely done, but I feel that the vibrato in the ladies' voices detracts from the piece. They should sing without it. However, this is a very beautifully done piece by Mack Wilberg. Thanks for posting!
I've sung a few Mack Wilberg pieces before, and I certainly agree as to his wonderful talent for arrangement especially as shown in this setting of "Come Thou Font." That was truly a beautiful performance!
(BTW, I have heard of Andre Thomas. While I haven't sung under him, groups I've been a part of have been influenced by him. I believe he and the director of a group I currently sing as a baritone with - Peggy Joyce Barber - are known to each other ...)
My high school choir did this last year, and it is a very beautiful piece. We should be doing again at the 400th anniversity of Jamestown this May. Perhaps someone will videotape us and put us on youtube
I would love to have this hymn in Spanish... it's simply beautiful!

This is the most magnificent hymn in all of Christianity. Dr. Wilberg's arrangement is the greatest. It thrills me, no matter who sings/performs it.

@walktovanish This was the same arrangement, and I saw you perform it in the new BYU Conference Center for the Dedication. Simply breathtaking!

How horrible are we to still sin after all he went through for us? I am bawling. I love this song. Just follow the only God.

LOVE Mac Wilberg; no other arrangement comes close to his of "Come Thou Fount." What a gift he has, and what a gift he shares with us!

oops--never mind--I didn't see the ID box in the top right. I'm new to YouTube and techno-challenged. They don't let me out that often. LOL

One of the most beautiful pieces ever written for choir and orchestra. We just did this at my church and it was truly moving.
Great job strings! Conducted a tad too fast for my taste; you could have milked it more.
