  • seems kinda cheap , in my eyes i would just get all the dvds by them self they look better.

  • Amazon.com has confirmed this box set as a legitimate Malaysian import.

  • If in the back of the DVD says it's region free then it's a bootleg. I seen this box set before, and I believe it is a bootleg. Studio Ghibli has not released a box set yet that includes Ponyo.

  • That looks like a Bootleg DVD..

  • @MochiMegan It's pretty hard to tell if it's bootleg or not. I really don't know if it is to be honest. There's evidence that shows that my box set is fake and some that shows it might be real, I don't think I'll ever really know.

  • @DSmaster9 It is definitely a bootleg, you see tons of them on eBay.

Also it doesn't have Ghibli's official holograph anywhere.

  • How are the subtitles on the english translation? I know some foreign translators for english can be a little wonky. Also are the quality on the videos pretty good? I have an HDTV that is why I am wondering.

  • @ZeonStar The subtitles for the films for the most part are good, but I've had one problem (happened in Pom Poko and Only Yesterday I think) where a line of dialogue would only appear for a fraction of a second and then go on the the next line. But it did only happen to me for those 2 movies. Besides that that the subbing is fine. And the quality is fine, ain't blu-ray (though they need to make a blu-ray collection) but it is still good.

  • @ZeonStar Thank you. I was only hesitant to buy this because of the unknown quality of the picture from the movies. I am fine with non-HD but if it doesn't go to widescreen and the quality is lower than that of other standard DVDs I would have a problem :)

  • thanks for showing this

  • @0TigerBlood0 You can find it off ebay for about 30$

  • in some of the cases (I know Nausicaa for sure) Disney made their own english versions and from what i hear they were quite inferior, important plot related scenes were cut, and the acting was not supervised by Hayao. I look very much forward to getting this and watching the subtitled versions to enjoy the version Hayao meant for us to see.

  • @theeHeisenberg

OH and apparantly the english speaking version of My Neighbor Toturo butchers the original version

  • I own said box-set. £15ish from e-bay. Great purchase, given that the films on their own are c. £7. I too was disappointed at the artwork, and that it's all from the same film. I was also disappointed that disc 1 and 2 have the same picture as well. I'm also quite disappointed that not all the films are audible in English 'cause I don't like subtitles, but I can't really complain at the price. I'm glad someone else has one though. I was a little concerned it was a knock-off.

  • @SmurphPTFC I know it is a great box set! I too was a little disappointed with the lack of movies with English audio because I find it easier to watch a movie in my own language so I don't have to look at the bottom of the screen for text but I'm fine with reading subtitles, I just don't prefer them. Anyways, I don't even know if it is a knock-off or not. I'm pretty sure it is real but not 100% certain. And does the box set you have have really bad disk holders, or is it just mine?

  • @DSmaster9 Even if it's not real; I've said a lot of money. The disc holders are a little shoddy, yeah.

  • i wantt one toooooooo ... my next birthday gift :D

  • thx for the great video, didnt know there was a box set that held all/most of the ghibli movies. ima ask my parents to by this for me for christmas. ^^ keep making more videos kid.

  • just ordered mine ! thanks for showing this videoo !
