An entire stretch of HWY 417 has grooves in it which produces a constant and annoying whistling sound. The first time I heard it I thought there was a problem with my engine. A tune on a small piece of the highway would, I suppose be interesting or of use but try driving listening to a whistling sound for two hours...
In Illinois, they had these patterns to warn you of the toll plaza coming up. This was before they had these RFID toll placards for cars. I always thought it sounded like the first two notes from the Jaws theme. Sadly it never sped up as you got progressively closer. That would have been awesome. They'd of course also have to convert all the coin baskets into shark mouths to achieve the full effect.
your right but, if the rumble strip is longer than the wheelbase of the car, your front wheels are still rumbling by the time your rear wheels start, so the sound inside the cab turns out to be a single note

Because a car has 2 axles, wouldn't you get a "double note" each time you rode over a rumble strip?
