@AmeliaJane74 The way I look at it is this, pegasister sounds like a name for pegasus fans. Brony is a name for pony fans. The show isn't "My Little Pegasus", so if we must differentiate the fans, the only term appropriate would be fillies or bronettes.

Besides, pegasister=4 syllables, Filly=2 syllables. Rolls off the tongue easier.

@AmeliaJane74 Females are referred to by male terms all the time. Look at the English language, when referring to a group of males and females, you always use the masculine term, ex. mankind. Therefore, it's redundant when anyone says "Bronies and Pegasisters". Female terms do exist, but usually the one difference between them and the male term is the suffix. Pegasister is completely different from brony.

I keep pushing for bronette to be the female term, because it makes sense.

I personally think the best route is to just make "brony" gender neutral, like e.g. "actor" is now often used to refer to females. It's not ideal, but we have to work with what we've got.

Therefore, I don't think a feminine brony necessarily needs to keep pony in the name, just a suffix that implies the word refers to females. But yes, of course it's better if we could preserve "pony", but that's not always possible.

That's why I suggest bronette if we MUST have a female form.

The only logical solution is to accept brony as gender neutral, but for whatever reason, some females don't like being referred to as a masculine term when we speak a language where it happens all of the time. When was the last time a female writer was referred to as an authoress? We're so used to calling everyone an author regardless of gender that chances are some people never even heard of authoress.

But bro itself is often used as a gender neutral term nowadays anyway, so I don't think it's much of a stretch for brony to be one. @PedanticPig That's probably true. Since bro can be associated with brother, and since brother is gender specific, it would make sense for females to want their own gender specific term. Like brothers and sisters, you don't call the males and females all brothers. This is the same case, but we'd both fall under siblings, a neutral term. Like in spanish, Bronies/hermanos can be that neutral term while also being male specific.

I still don't like pegasister, but I guess I can learn to accept it.
