i think the duggars are very smart and very inventive in saving money. i just wish they didn't separate the older kids from their peers. i understand that some kids are stupid and a bad influence but there are other kids that could be their buddies.

I don't get perms, so I may not be totally correct... but I have curly hair naturally that goes kind of weird and straight in some spots, and with permed hair it's generally the same type of curl all over, all the time. She might get the perm to maybe make it all the same texture, or she might do it to match the rest of her sisters.

ya. sometimes people's curls r TOO tight so a perm relaxes it. then sometimes people's hair is curly but not like "wearable" curly.

Kinda late but here's a simpler explanation than the others have given - When someone with naturally curly hair gets a perm we usually call it a reverse perm, because it straightens their hair, but it's alot different than the perm the duggar girls do. A reverse perm is usually a chemical straightening.
