  • I was named for the Great Louis -- my middle name is Louise. When the 6th-grade nuns told us to make a speech about our saint's name, instead of making a speech about St. Louise, I made a speech about Louis Armstrong. My nun teacher said he was not a saint to witch I said, "Then why did St. Louis sing When The Saints Go Marching In?"

  • The world has a place for talented people. Louis' one of them.

  • louis Armstrong fué el músico mas carismatico de USA. Viva por siempre ese genio de la música negra que daba todo en sus presentaciones y sobre todo una persona que contagiaba alegría. Louis is the best.

  • ay ay, good old day...

  • Louis shows the true meaning of class, style and skill. His talents were unmatched in his day and today he is recognized as the first "scat singer." I have high regard for Louis' accomplishments during his lifetime and i wish that more people would frequent this site often.

  • BETTER KNOW AS 'SACH-MO', AS GOOD AS ANY TRUMPET MAN

OF HIS TIME ON THIS TYPE OF MUSIC. THANKS,bw

  • I'll tell you what. That guys a pretty good trumpet player. Anyone know anything about him?

Yes, only joking. Swings it. Kicks it. Great men all.

  • Marty Napoleon, Buddy Catlett & Jewel Brown are still alive.

  • Danny Barcelona on drums? May he rest in peace!

  • Danny is still alive.

  • Not according to AP of two weeks ago......passed away at 77 in a California nursing home....that leaves possibly Joe Muranyi as the last of the full timers.....if you talk to Danny let AP know....also lost Jackie Coon a couple of days later.

  • Didn't know that. That's bad news. He was alive when I e-mailed with one of his daughters two months ago.

  • Yeah, it is sad but seems that he hit a good age. He did swing it.....an old acquaintance of mine, Ernie Carson speaks quite fondly of him....a "fun guy"......

  • That clarinet plays a key role in this wonderful song. Beautiful!

  • Humanity's good fortune...Louie covered it!

  • Great Clip-Nice to hear Pops play a full chorus up front. That's Joe Muranyi on Clarinet.Look forward to more.

  • Another very nice clip. There's a version of Cabaret from the day before this that has appeared on quite a few CDs. His playing is different on this clip & unlike the CD version I mentioned he plays the whole first chorus. Thank you!!!!
