I think that native american nations should become ONE nation and become organized. Unfortunately, the natives she found did not accept her either because her speech/personality was now "too white and aggressive", not demure as a proper native woman should be. She was married several times, to men who abused her and gave her syphallis.
(Pt. 3) She was very sick most of her adult life because of it. She spent some time living in a cheap, seedy hotel "doing what she needed to do to survive". I believe they said she was around 28 y.o when she died. Years later, the native people researched her story and realized they had been wrong for shunning her when she came looking for help. Her body was exhumed and given a proper burial according to her culture..... I believe she was buried near her birth mother.

I have a friend in Montana, a Crow. It's tough terrain up there. Very cold winters with a short growing season but what's worse, they must constantly fight for water rights because because big government diverts natural water supplies. How ugly is that?! While growing up in California, my Family, Cherokee, actually kept it secret our Cherokee background, so we didn't suffer discrimination. It was only when I got to about 5th grade that I started to understand that we were "different". It took many years to bring back some part of our pride. (Pt. 1) I just watched a documentary on her on PBS, I believe it was called "Lost Bird of Wounded Knee". What a tragic story. Yes, she was adopted by an American soldier, who treated her more as a victory trophy than a daughter. He did not bother to tell his wife he had adopted her until afterwards. He beat Lost Bird and treated her with cruelty. Her adoptive mother loved her heart and soul and struggled to help her find a place in the world......

I believe they said she was around 28 y.o when she died. Years later, the native people researched her story and realized they had been wrong for shunning her when she came looking for help. Her body was exhumed and given a proper burial according to her culture..... I believe she was buried near her birth mother.

the movement came into Our village, destroyed our church and stores causing us to drive further to get the necesities we needthose select few got famous and did nothing to rebuild what they destroyed. its all good for a decent point a valid point and even a meaningful point how about rebuilding the comunity now? We are still in the us top ten poorest counties for yearts running...we don't have any casino revenues like all the wana be tribes...We are still paying the cost here.

my name is christian. im from sisseton wahpeton rez. look, i know why white guys hate us, and why dakota hate white guys. its so simple. but it also makes me sad. the people who care arent south dakotans. i know they hate us. im ok with that. but i would like the rest of the nation to give a shit about our family (mine is really big), and remember that for all the ranches and drunken brothers, we still have a culture and beautiful language. my family is dear to me, as are my white friends.

You obviously don't know about practically the world being on AIM's side, the World hates the U.S. Government, and the Euros have high respect for us Native Americans, maybe 2 nations support the U.S. Gov. and they are small and defensless, Denmark possibly and Israel, and many in each of those tow countries hate the U.S. Gov.
