It's easier than PLC programming. It's... this address pans x degrees, this address tilts y degrees, color changes the same as any DMX programming. If you have heads at different positions, each head and it symetrical mate will share a unique set of addresses. Takes a little practice to get several lights to all move to focus on a single point simultaneously.
I'm totally dumb on all this stuff but how are these lights programmed? Is there a standard followed by vendors, like a programming language of sorts? Are there common platforms upon which to run such programs? I come from a computer programming background, that would explain my questioning I hope!
The protocol used is DMX (512). There are 512 channels, each channel can hold a value of one byte (256 possible values).Spotlights usually use one channel (dimmer).Movingheads use most likely 10-15 channels: pan, tilt, dimmer, gobo, color ...... (sometimes pan and tilt use 2 channels each to have more possible values (and therewith a finer movement)).
@TimCC10 You and I are both correct. 255 is the max Value, but "zero" is another possible value, so we have a total of 256 values :) (2^8 The size of a byte :> )
the brand name is acme thats what the lable on the scanner says im looking at 1 right now i dont see jb systems anywhere on the title names it says "by acme" sooo explain that!
There a disaster. 2 of our are broken within a half year. the other 2 have problems with the DMX signal for ever and ever. There cheap, but just buy a Phantom. Those are much better. A littlebit more expensive, but much more reliable.
I'm planning to get 4 pieces of minimax 2. Do you still recommend me to get them or not, after having yours several months now. Any major / minor problems with those you have?
Would be better if he showed the actual programming of the units or had them being tested in a better environment for showing the effects as a crowd or audience would view them.
Tis is the showtec minimax 250 watt. It's very cheap, in holland available for around 400 euro. So that is affgordable foor us because wel are just a little drive in show.
The controller we used is a "showtec dj scancontroller", but soon it will be a computer interface, knowned as Sunlite Suite. That a great software pack.
cheap shit

thanks for that detailed response. it's not a million miles away from PLC programing then I guess.

how many watts are you dynamos?
clubdude08 3 years ago
If it is an older one, then 12V/100W, if it is one of the new models, then 24V/250W
thijsos512 2 years ago
Either way acme/JB Systems they are all the same kit made in a chinese warehouse then re-branded for different companies.
If you want a proper head - get a Martin, Robe or Vari*lite.

vraagje, die movingheads maken best wel veel geluid als ze bewegen, hoort dat of niet?
wekkerradio112 4 years ago
Die dingen bewegen niet van zichzelf. Een motortje beweegt en die dingen maken nou eenmaal altijd wel iets lawaai.
