how do ppl get their lines so nice looking on the tablet. =[ i have to draw my drawings by hand then scan them in then i use the pen toon to trance what i drew so i can hve the line art. :'( i can never draw lines like that

I have a tabelt and stuff but everytime I try to draw a line it looks sketchy. How do I fix that?

@Opalskys That can depend on different factors

- Program: Photoshop - it can give quite sketchy lines :s I don't like PS

- Program: SAI - "Stabilizer" play around with the numbers. It stabilizes the line a bit (but can also make brush-stroke slow).

- Program: SAI - Advanced brush settings. Play with quality, hard/soft, etc

- Your own hand/arm - is it stable? do you shake alot?

- Pen Tablet Properties - perhaps the "Tip Feel" is set to too soft or too firm for you? Mine's more to the firm side.

@MrNana5051 I think its just very good tablet control, cause all of it was just redrawed I believe. I recently started using a tablet and ya its a disaster even though I can draw perfectly fine on paper. So i think just pratice on the control of your hand. :P

He used the pen tool, wich basically lets you point out locations of where the line should go, and makes the line nice and smooth. :-)

just use quick strokes :3 especially with hair..cause u really just have to go with the flow of it :D or at least thats wat i do o3o

@MrNana5051 If you're not using a tablet, and don't have amazing mouse-control or patience to draw really big resolution to cover up messyness, then I'd say go with traditionally inked lineart and scan it into your computer.

@chibikaoruchan Thanks! The resolution was 100% and the general Ragnarok Online Screen-size, 800x600 I think. So this one was VERY small, but usually I draw at 300% res and A4 (then cropping it as I want)

@ravensnake123 I draw one like bit for bit, not in one huge stroke, I guess that helps a bit. The "Smoothing" feature SAI has also helps with nicer lines.

Um, I don't know if this question have anything to do with lineart.

But, I have this scanned picture I want to trace out and colour on sai.

I managed to put the picture on sai. And I got the colouring layer in, But no matter how I try to trace it out. It won't ink at all. And yeah, how do you get it to draw.

Open the picture in SAI, make a new normal layer above the picture, choose a pen/brush of choice as well as some color like black, and start inking. Shouldn't be much harder than that.

But I was able to open a inking layer and colour it all in and stuff. But it took a lot more time than using a colour layer.

In which way? Lines, blackwhite, coloring or just generally..? Personally this is pretty much the only program I use for drawing digitally nowadays, so yes I think it's a very good program to buy.

SAI sure is a nice software for linearts, isn't it ;) I use it all the time in fact. Btw, is that Camtasia Studio you're capturing?
