wario land-started as a closer to mario bros type game, but eventually became different enough to define it's self by collecting.

waluigi-can't just be a mario game with waluigi as the main character, there has to be a twist to make it different from your average mario game so it can define itself, or you might as well make the main character mario.

Luigi started out as even less a mere palette swap so why couldn't Waluigy have his own game. Filler char or not He's nit the first filler to become popular one famous example is Goofy from Disney. If you're not a fan and don't like why reply here in the first place?

Atleast in the first Mario Brothers (the 1 level arcade game), Luigi had a separate name and was treated like a different character. Even in Super Mario Brothers, Luigi atleast had his own name plate when it displayed lives. Of course Luigi was considered the alternate 2
