Just outta curiosity: how much does disc read speed effect performance on a game on PC? Will a game run slow if it has a very slow read speed but a fast processor?

im running this on a i7 870 with an Nvidia gtx460, it runs like a dream but im tweaking a bit here and there and still i cant get quite the same weapon fire effects that you show on this vid, any special feature that you may have enabled to get those smooth blue traces of light? nice music btw. cheers!

I don't know why but i think the textures are soo blurry in the game

And i'm on max settings with the proper resolution... Trust me i have an HD 5970 so that shouldnt be a problem

@Zemadclover do you have the game updated? i know when it first came out there was some glitch where all the textures would be low res, but it was fixed. make sure you dont have any settings forced in the drivers(dont force AA or AF filters) and set your mipmap settings to max quality in the drivers.

mostly anti aliasing (jaggy edge smoothing)

higher resolution textures, better filtering (makes textures clearer from a farther distance)

easier menus to navigate through in general.

other than that it's pretty much the same.

Pretty much the only reason to get it for PC is to turn all the eye candy up if you have a really powerful rig, and mass effect 2 will definitely look even better, but if you already have it on the xbox its pretty pointless to go PC.

I think the pc has a better interface to control your inventory, and specials, all those extra keys come in handy with a game like this. BUT the pc version is buggy, there is a patch on the way, but its been 8 months now and no patch.

what kind of bugs? i have been playing for a while and the only problems I've had was the Normandy's map would be a black screen(update 1.02 has fixed that) and now the game quit itself when i went to luna, it only happened once though. oh, and garrus's face was always lo res textures, but that was fixed too. aside from sudden framerate drops(likely caused by streaming textures), its perfect.

no, you can change the settings by going into the folder and changing it manually, theres a program inside your mass effect folder - its fairly easy to spot

this game isn't at 1680x1050 in the game itself but your resolution is 1680x1050. when i go into the graphics setting of mass effect i don't see 1680x1050 but the highest i could go was 1280x1024 16:9
