This opened the door of opportunity for Whites & not Blacks. It goes back even farther than that. In the 70s when black parents chose to bus their own children to the "burbs" to force Caucasians to integrate their children with black children this was a big mistake. This opened the door of opportunity for Whites & not Blacks. It would have been better for the Black middleclass to uplift our own people like other ethnic groups have done, to improve economic conditions, in the Black community so it can hold its' own against any community.

Caucasian parents enrolled their children in private school or transferred their children to special advanced classes in the public school system, to which black students were not truly integrating with Caucasian students at all. Furthermore the drop in enrollment in the inner-city reduced the need for teachers in the "Hood", which in turn resulted in laying off or firing Black teachers. Finally, Black students spent long hours just in commuting from the inner-city to the "Burbs".

It is certain that Malcolm X knew of activity to where Elijah Muhammad et al used the children of these woman and other woman to obtain AFDC benefits.
During the '60s, '70s, '80s, etc., using children to obtain welfare checks, AFDC benefits is a major part of the economy in the inner-city. For decades the inner-city has been an area with high unemployment, especially pertaining to black men with criminal records. This is not to make excuses for the NOI, because there is no excuse.
