  • A very lovely and slick video - very aptly showing how bright pretty young things get paid lots of money to "advise", "consult" and "guide" business and investors. I'm sure they are all nice and clever - but is anyone really convinced these kids have any real and deep grasp of what their doing? Also, was this a UNSW or UBS Promo piece? To see other examples of how investment firms have captured academic institutions see the film "The Inside job"

  • investment banks use other peoples money to make money out of it from over exaggerated inflated appraisals..

  • so how do i make a weeks pay at this

  • Great video! Thanks for posting!

  • Guy in 13:00 really loves to "suppose"

  • good video but it only proves the whole system is corrupt and is all a big gambling scheme

  • they lie. "how can we make money from you" is what they meant to say

  • @NDUBZ08 the whole system of markets and trends is a big fat lying gambling ponzi scheme no wonder jesus will let them burn in hell its all a big fat game to them, good video though

  • Excellent video, no wonder things are the way they are...

  • murder and executions

  • @xhazedx how do we change such a world wide lying scam system? behind it has to be the devil so how do you beat the devil? no idea yet but i am working on the plan probably will take all my life but he has to have a weakness and i think his weakness is the truth being told

  • @ncbookz Why would the devil have a weakness? And how will being told the truth be a weakness for him? It's like saying to a bully that he's a bully; /care! He will continue anyways. And why do people always complain and say this and that is the root of all evil when things are going wrong. Sometimes stuff doesn't work. We're human. We make mistakes. No other civilization (i.e. humans) in the past is there to learn from. Suck it up and deal with it.

  • @Confettikaas if we speak the truth then the lies of the system are exposed and the average person will not participate in the 401k scheme and will buy property instead hopefully and get out of the money masters superplan to enslave and ruin the middle class

  • @ncbookz First of all, I'd like to say that I did not entirely understand your point. Secondly, if you hint at how most people are tricked with 401k schemes etc; sure, I think so too. BUT let's say this happens, people taking out all of their money and investing it. Do you think this will work? Do you think this will endure? It doesn't take religion, god or the devil the figure out that this won't work either. Mankind isn't able (not yet at least) to work together (globally).

  • God banking is such a load of shit, who hired the asshole woman.

  • it's all simple rules of business between two persons complicated with third parties and stupid jargons to make things complicated for everybody...all of the banking business and their studies are about how to act as an intermediary and make money from nothing ..i mean no investment of their own!! stupefying the parties responsible for business exchange.

  • @blitzinger1 You lucky son of a bitch.

  • Was UBS paranoid about thier perception in Australia as male orientated? after watching this video you could be mistaken that 90% of thier employees are young women. At university I did not meet any woman that wanted to work in IB, yet almost every dude with a Finance major wanted to be an IB big swinging dick.

  • the banking elites, media and most industrial countries work with and most are members of a secret society called the illuminati. this secret society (not so secret anymore) are trying to enslave humanity and force everyone to worship one religion. as far fetch as it sounds, this group has slowly and intelligently crafted the reality of most americans, britains, germans, etc. through media and politics. please research about this. if you believe it wake others up and spread kindness.

  • @wakeupandrevolt So if I become a banking elite, I become an Illuminati, right? Because that's what I'm studying and the career I chose, studying Computer Science and Economics and Management. You're victim of a paranoid delusion I'm afraid. Finally middleclass people like me can become big, but the rabble keeps on wanting to remain slave. What's the illuminati thing, an excuse for laziness? Revolt what, against who? Can't you see it's all imaginary and there's no real evidence?

  • Hi Guys. Real estate investor?

  • Great vid, really could have gotten a much more attractive women to narrate though, I had to scroll down and write this comment rather than look at her. Now I hear another voice so I'm going to head back uppp to the vid

  • "Our founding fathers intended for every building in this country to be a church containing one book, written by Jesus, that would be read out in a strange voice by an orange man in a shiny suit who would also tell you who you were allowed to kill."

  • @stealthgerm A derivative is a piece of paper which chnages in value according to certain events happening which were given by either side when it was bought. Those event can be anything, indices to the patterns of weather. Usually held to hedge against losses e.g an airline holding a weather derivative which appreciates when severe storm.

  • Investment Banking acts like a middle man, The only productive asset of the investment banking are infomration and connection.

Combining boths asset together generates billions of dollar.

  • Thanks for this video. I.m trained pretty much on consumer credit and am clueless about investment banking. Now i'm involved in an Enterprise Risk Mgt project that requires me to have a good understanding about these things. This video is a good start for me.

  • Excellent Video thank you so much Dr. Kathy I appreciate the effort put forth and very glad that you posted it. From arkansas behind this computer screen thank you

  • Funding securities investments is a special kind of lending. The lenders have to quickly decide whether to provide the loan, otherwise, investors may miss opportunities. Meanwhile, it currently takes commercial banks time go through all the procedures to disperse credit. Therefore, I think that it would be better to allow commercial banks to provide capital to securities companies who can re-lend it to securities investors.

  • excellent work!

  • wow our uni sounds so good >_>

  • Used to work for investment bank..Don't really add value to society, in a minute number of cases they do - you don't get enough value for money..

The basic idea is to encourage high trading volumes and make money of the transactions and commissions...think of it like a leech, sprays anaesthetic with the bite, by the time you realise; it's usually too late.

  • I am 13 and aspire to become a Investment Banker can anyone give me any tips on what education choices i should make and any general tips

    thanks

  • i also 13 and trying to get a head start,im just trying to go were the money is

  • Drink your milk first....

  • I would advise you to get an Mechanical Engineering degree then get and MBA. While not as sexy as investment banking engineers run nearly every manufacturing and product based company in the world. Financial Firms are service based firms and are simply a middleman. However if you are bent on investment banking, do well in your undergrad classes as an accounting major. Then get a masters in finance and intern at a big investment bank ie houlihan lokey ,goldmansachs, jpm ect.

  • life hands you a lot of things...u might not even make it to age 14...finish middle school first...take it one day at a time...you'll probably want to do something else by the time you're 18

  • There is no such major in college as Investment Banking. They give you training after you have been accepted for that job. I am studing Aeronautical Engineering, then most likeley I will pursue an MBA in graduate school.

  • DEATH TO BANKERS!!!!

  • you are just jelious i bet you are just poor and lonly. you are a ass hoel

  • I dont blame the individual banker. They are a part of a system, a part of a Chain. Its the system. The system is not stable. Maybe it is intended to crash. Maybe thats how it is constructed. But its clear that this system is a failure for many reasons.

BANKERS ARE NOT PRODUCTIVE. THEY DONT INVENT REAL THING. THEY ARE NO ENGENEERS, NO SCIENTIST, THEY ARE PARASISTS!!!!

  • Kickboxing187...

What are Parasists? Are they a combination of racists, rapists and parasites? Sounds good to me.

  • If you're serious about IB then an accoutning degree isn't really the way to go. Economics or Maths at undergrad level of MBF. Then a Finance masters.

  • @ifkipling should be racipcists

  • @ifkipling - you think thais is something google:

"Court Registry Investment System" while you still can, the docs are being stripped offline fast every court case has it's own CUSIP account number and is ivested on the market

  • What I am looking for is some instruction on how to invest for myself. I have always been attracted to self empowerment. I do not believe in sitting and waiting for someone to save me, I am my own paladin. Thank you so much for this!

  • you are naive

  • How dare you! I am so not naive! I have been taking care of myself for a long time and I have faced my life with courage. What is wrong with a woman wanting to help herself anyway? That is what is right.

  • first, i will destroy your illusion and tell you that there are a lot of women these days who can take care of themselves. second, you don't even know that there is a difference between investment banking and investing. and the phrase "instructions on investing" proves even further that you should stay away from investments that involve risk. trust me...

  • You are presumptuous and I daresay most annoying with your assertions. First let me tell you this, I am quite aware that there a many women who are quite capable of taking care of themselves, I just happen to be one of them. Second, who are you to tell me what I should or should not do? You are completely out of line. As to my ignorance about investments" I know quite a lot about it already there is nothing wrong in gaining a different perspective on the matter. You can never know too much.

  • In future I will ask you most kindly to please refrain from commenting on my replies. I do not take to kindly to unwarranted negativity. Please take your advice elsewhere. Thank you!

  • Boring, nerd-like, greedy yuppies. You are mostly responsible for the global recession.

  • haha guess you didn't make it

  • What about the millions of boring, trash-like, equally greedy and much more naive, uneducated people that tend to get a mortgage, finance their car and work in McDonald's to feed their 4 children. Weren't they responsible to putting themselves in debt? The average debt on personal credit cards in America was above $7000 for the last quarter of 2008.

  • Dude, IBD deals with M&As and raising capital for businesses. What your on about is leveraged trading of CDS and other CDOs. Employees who work in IBD are not responsible for this.

  • This video shows once again, ......jump you fuckers or finally take on responsibilities for what you are doing, otherwise you wouldn´t be able to do such a job just after you finished school.

  • Oh my , thanks for that video. I love researching companies and trading stocks and options and wanted to get into investment banking, but after this video, I realised that investment banking is so boring and these guys look like high level brokers. I thought investment banking was about learnig how to invest wisely..this makes me think that investment banking is about brokering for investors.....well thanks u for this enlightment.

  • Theres much more to it than that.. Take it from someone who is in the business.

I think your being very dismissive.. If you want to be a day trader, there are sections of the bank who do this.. and this is where you will obviously 'know how to invest wisely'....

Being a trader is a nail biting job at times.. I much prefer M&A..

  • Why do I never hear people complaining about investment banking when it's a bull market? People who blame the current mess on investment bankers don't even have a clue what they are talking about. P.S. I'm not an investment banker.

  • its impossible to blame this on one group/person/corporation. the whole debacle is the result of regulatory oversight combined with market flaws.

  • i once read a book that said money is power.and we know power corrupts

  • Someday, i will get there :)

  • lol. investment banking= Investment Bankrupting

  • CalvinLe111, you can call it whatever you want, but the fact remains that we still make far more money than you can ever dream of.

  • tell me whats the point of making all that money?you cant take it with you when you die?

  • Young boy, I can assure you that my work is worth the payment that I recieve. I work very hard to earn every penny that I make. There is more to i-banking than you think. We did not cause the financial crisis. It was you people who cannot afford to pay back housing loan that causes submortgage crisis, and we are just another victim from that crisis. Many investment banks suffered greatly from declined value in mortgage-backed securities, but certainly not the company that I am working with.

  • i dont blame you at all i just said true wealth comes from real healthy and wise ways.its all good i plan to minor in economics.i was just wondering why you feel like you were the probelm?

  • you are a foo!!! VERY AROGANT YET YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A GRASP OF WHAT THE ROOT CUASES OF THE CRISIS WAS. IT WAS ALL ORCHASTRATED BY THE MONEY MASTERS, THE MORGAGE CRISIS WAS A SIDE EFFECT AND NOT A CAUSE!

  • what is the point of having so much money and working so hard when you wont have time to spend it. the world you live in is a materialistic one, think about it.

  • Trust me, there's time to spend it. When you're 65 and still worried about retirement money, especially if you live longer than you think, that's not a fun position to be in.

If you work hard your earlier years in a lucrative industry, but still live a balanced life, you can essentially retire by 50, and pursue whatever projects you want for the remainder of your life.

  • From what i understand you work and school very hard till your 50. Then when you retire you'll be able to do what ever you want. Some people might not mind this lifestyle, but to me a more balanced lifestyle with a good income sounds more reasonable. That way you divide your time up between your youth and when you are older. There are many things that a person might regret not doing when they were young when they are caught up in the world of money. you only have one life, spend it wisely

  • like anything its a matter of choice. you have summed it up pretty well.

  • its ridiculous to blame only those who could not pay back their loans. Iunderstand they are the heart of the problem, but the overall causes are far more complicated. you have to take a look at the intrinsic flaws in the system, in particular regulatory oversight. there is no doubt the major investment banks/funds faciltated the problem by lobbying against regulation and promoting excess lending for profit. so dont try to act like you were not part of the problem you self righteous greedy pig

  • Nice to see a fellow IB'er..

Although, I found it amusing that you felt the need to announce your salary. See.. its this cliche.. the people like you;.. i,e- the 'wankers' who sort of make the rest of us look bad..

    Anyway, good luck with it,

  • @oplilium I find it interesting that bankers blame borowers for their failure. So what you'r saying is that the banks business model and it execution of thier business models would be just perfect if only they could only get rid of those pesky troublesome customers? The bullshit detectors as far away as China are going off from that little gem. ;)

  • @lerch25

Well said!!! fuck the banking motherfuckers

  • @jeanpaulfelix the whole system of markets and trends is a big fat lying gambling ponzi scheme no wonder jesus will let them burn in hell its all a big fat game to them, good video though

  • you mean you LOST far more money than I ever dreamed of.

how about you go do something useful , maybe sweep streets or clean toilets or something ?

  • @oplilium sooo...how much money do you make in investment banking...? including bonues and all that good stuff....

  • CalvinLe,

What's wrong, are you jealous that you were too lazy in college and are just envious that these people are taking on interesting challenges while ur flipping burgers for a living?

  • I'm a first year student at Queens College NY and I'm Majoring in Finance. Any suggestions or ideas to keep me in the right path?

  • The financial world is changing and I would suggest doing a major which would give you real skills that people will pay for-doctors will almost always be needed. I see a lot more financial turmoil up ahead and while the wall street mentality is to be rah rah, this time it's best if you take a step back and reconsider your future.

  • =) australia, hong kong, london, san fransisco ... fed up. only wall street has it all properly set up in terms of IBD (M&A)

    poor accountant

    london

  • if i major in accounting can i work as an ivestment banker

  • Only if you get a 4.0

    Accountants suck.

  • You can major in accounting, but it's not the right major for investment banking.

  • which is the right, is it finance?

  • Yes, finance. I major in International Business, and got an MBA in Finance. I'm doing well so far. I'm working as an associate second-year for Goldman Sachs. The work is tough, but the salary, especially the bonus is worth it! ;)

  • is your work work costing you your social life.

  • Nice, I'm planning on doing the exact same thing! Gotta get my IB first.

  • the quality of your language is indeed indicative of the fact that you work at GS!

  • Cool. I work in the Second Life virtual Lehman Bros. which is still doing fine.

  • Yes it does, but I try to keep my life simple. I don't go out party every day. I still find some time to enjoy myself and meeting with friends during the weekend. Your first few years in Invesment Banking, especially the bulge bracket firms will be quite tough, but once you reach the MD position, you will get at least 1 million $ per year without having to do much. I hope this helps your decision. Remember, study hard and get to the top business school. It's definitely worth it. ;)

  • The investment banks were hurt from their stake in mortgage backed securities. Investment Banking itself has always generated profit.

  • wery hard to understant ... they speak so quick and fluently...:p

  • Hey, thats a interesting video. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good reliable investment analysts teams to help me pick great opportunities at the right time and price so I can manage my porftfolio.

  • try the bankingorbust website for help with banking interviews or to learn more

  • I used to be an investment banker and left it because I hated it. Basically these guys are talking the "semi" truth. But really, the reality is you will work very long hours writing pitch books in powerpoint with absolute wankers in my opinion. There are a few good blokes in the IB world, but they are very few and far between

  • this guy got thumbs down, just as this comment would, but he speaks the truth
