Virtually no slaves were used in the Dominican Republic, because it mainly had cattle ranches and not plantations.

Robertson is just stating the historical facts regarding the history of haiti. New Orleans had a populous that once practiced voodoo, but then became predominantly Christian. Don't forget, other states other than Louisiana were affected by Katrina.

So why do Christians have miscarriages, die in car/plane crashes, or die in earthquakes? If any Christian missionaries died in that earthquake, was it because of Haiti's sin? Has everyone you know died because of America's sin? Just be careful to not blame sin for every catastrophic event.

I've watched Pat Robertson before. Mostly when I'm getting up, and just needed some noise and light to wake me up. Pat Robertson comes on sometimes with the 700 club. No, don't get me wrong. This claim he makes is ridiculous.
But at the same time, a lot of the things he brings up are quite relevant. He regularly ridicules Radical Muslims, you won't see that on CNN.
I guess what I'm getting at is that he's kind of hit-or-miss.
