  • The other thing I remember from this time period when Kennedy was in town was the 21 gun salute from the cannons at the Naval War College.

  • I was in second grade at St. Michael's school in Newport, RI in 63 and I vividly recall the excitement in town when the Kennedy's would visit. I remember my dad pointing out the secret service out by Hammersmith Farm. Then the horrible saddness that November, St. Michael's had the entire school go to it's chapel for a special service before being dismissed. This is forever etched in my memory. I remember it being very hard for me to understand and to believe
