  • i don't know why people think they need a clicker or food my mickey budgie didn't have any of that he just did it.

  • I agree with you. Of course you do not NEED a clicker or food if your bird responds to other ways of training/playing. The problem is that some birds are a little bit harder to "tame", are shy, have not been handled when young (like Gimli who wouldn't even accept food rewards from the hand in the begining). Because clicker training is so called "positive reinforcemnt"

  • (a non-punishment way of training) it is a very effective way of training. The origins of clicker training come from the training of dolphins and nowadays many zoos use clicker training to train their animals to eg. stand still for veterinary treatment.

  • Yes i now see what you are saying. A friend on youtube needs a little help getting his bird to come out of the cage. He has a fav toy so i told him to use the toy as a tool to teach the bird.

  • Sounds like a great idea! (using the birds favorite toy) I hope he suceeds, would be fun to hear about his progress :)
