AMERICANS - Would you please pronounce it correctly as "DAY...LIA..S" - excuse me for being pedantic - but English love their language used correctly...
Bless - Edward - I just put my dahlias in - in New Zealand
@edwardtagg Oh. In fact DAY Lia would indeed be incorrect: "The dahlia flower – named after the 18th century botanist Anders Dahl " So DAhLL is then the proper form. ;) yep. Sorry!!
Thanks so much for this video, it was very informative. I was afraid to do this dividing chore, but with your help it seems that even I can do it and they will survive to grow again...
Hi I recently baught 2 plants of dahlias do I have to plant them in a deep pot also what kind of fertilizer should I use or soil, I can only plant them in pots since I dont have a yard
it seems so mean but that was very informative and thank you for posting
MY QUESTION please, it is may right now and my dahlia plants are about 7 inches tall right now -. can and should i separate multiple plants/sprouts now ? or must i really wait till the season is over?
thank you for this information! I'm growing dahlias for the first time... Does every tuber always produce that many tubers at the end of the season???? I just planted 15 different dahlias so if each one produces 4-5 tubers......... I'm going to need a bigger garden next year?!?!
Wow. This was VERY GOOD. I did not know that I should cut AND leave in the ground before dividing to allow eyes to grow. Thank you so much. Good filming.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You are the only one who got in CLOSE enough to allow the viewer to see where and what the growth eyes look like. Also, thank you about the tip about tubers that comes from another tuber will not have growth eyes. VERY GOOD VIDEO!! THANK YOU!!
So helpful! thanks!

@Edward...LOL. So that makes three possibilities...DAY lias, DOLL ias, or DAL ias. Wonder what Shakespeare would have to say about that?

Hi poosaypirate,
If it is not in the ground I would divide it now and get it in the ground quickly. If it is in the ground, leave it alone and dig it up in the fall.

You are the best. One question. Do we need to remove the bulb every year before winter time or should I leave it on the ground?
