  • I wonder... how would a normal imperial guard react if a custode stood before him ?

  • @TyronMakeka Shit themselves, curl up in a little ball, and cry?

  • @BaldurandVali most likely, yes.

  • is it just me or do they resemble the eldar

  • @tetrisxaddict Yeah both Eldar and Custodes have tall helmets. The Custodes and Space Marines in general are like, twice as broad as Eldar though.

  • Custodes compared to Astartes are like Astartes compared to normal men but... it´s said the Custodes fight like Lions while the Astartes fight like wolves. That is was makes Astartes more efficient.

  • @touchdown081

    More efficient where?!

Custodes are much more individualists, unlike Astartes they cant fight very well in large battles.

  • @glavgad thats what im saying

  • Never heard of this Chapter before. Nice video.

  • @DarthRalek its not so much a chapter, as the body guards of the emperor himself. they guard the emperors palace on Terra.

  • @cragxe How can you guard a corpse? I see they failed in their duty to protect I see. :p

  • @DarthRalek They can guard the corpse in that the residual energy in the corpse is still fueling the Astronomican, so that the Imperium's ships can travel across the galaxy relatively safely. They're doing their job quite adequately.

  • @nakenmil Are they stationed on Terra 24/7 or are they deployed with the rest of the Imperium?

One more question regarding the Chaos Legions. I've read that the Imperium uses the Astronomican to find their way through the holy warp. But how do the Traitor leagions do so? Because I can't see them using the Corpse-Emperor for anything other than target practice.

  • @DarthRalek They've been stationed on Terra for the last 10,000 years. Though during the Age of Apostasy (a civil war during the 35th millennium) they chose sides and helped overthrow the then-current most powerful man in the Imperium. They're not so much Space Marines as they are proto-Primarchs - better in many ways than Space Marines, but less economically efficient to make.

The Traitor Legions navigate through the Warp presumably through daemonic aid or pacts with the Dark Gods.

  • @nakenmil wow learning a lot today. Where did you learn all of this?

  • @DarthRalek Oh, a little here and a little there. Lexicanum(dot)com is a form of 40k wiki where a lot of the published material is written down, but if you feel like asking questions feel free to go to 40konline(dot)com, and go to the Background forum. :-)

  • @DarthRalek They did a flawless job at protecting the emperor up till the Horus Heresy. Even then the Emperor only died physically because he was holding back his full power during the fight with Horus.

  • @diablolrm90 well, to be honest an army of 10,000 warriors each the equal of 10 or more space Marines is pretty much going to be a nigh impenetrable force if allowed to set up.

  • @Verixus113 I think they're more the equivilant of 100 space marines, but they fight as individuals.

  • @Verixus113 Yeah, but they are all individualists. They would only gather to such a huge force if there ever was a higher call for it. Like for instance, defending Terra or the Imperial Palace and both.

  • @diablolrm90 He did also not call anyone for help. Keep that in mind.

  • but wehr are al teh metal bawkses

  • awesome music and vid, i loved it

  • The book First Heretic depicts the Custodes in a much different light. The Word Bearer's noted that they fight individually, not as a unit. Although in personal combat they are far superior, the three stationed with the Word Bearer's legion were slaughtered by Possessed traitor marines at the onset of the Horus Heresy ><. The book made them seem very very weak.

  • @EldarExodite You must remember it was hundreds upon hundreds of possessed.

  • @EldarExodite

Well you should remember...even during that time they rarely left the Emperors' side & they had NEVER had to deal w/ a Space Marine, let alone a legion of them!

It wasn't that the Custodes hadn't dealt w/ overwhelming numbers of powerful foes before, but again! These were not aliens, or humans they were Space Marines!

  • "We're sorry, but you threw off the emperor's groove."

  • @Stagart I wish I could eternally rep you for that comment. :(

  • @livingmylifeatmach2 "rep" ? oO

  • @Stagart David Spade ftw.

  • I feel bad for the one that got flayed alive my just a gaze of Horus

  • Hi, i started my own finest Warhammer 40K Tribute Series. Full HD, Finest Art and Epic Music.

    Please Check out my channel

  • They should so be an army you can play in 40k tabletop.

  • 1:36 what the hell Soap does in warhammer universe? xD

  • 1:36 Soap!

  • @minvydaaas454 Once a protagonist, allways a protagonist.

  • @MrGhostly12321

that guy is really soap xD look at his face and hair damnit :DDD

  • They were. The Adeptus Custodes were the Emperor's elite army throughout the Unification Wars.

  • 2.04

  • i think that's the adeptus custodes leader Valdor Constantine.

  • I know how to make these miniatures (There already made!!!)

  • I find this easy to masturbate to, this is such an awesome story line and I love Warhammer 40k FOR THE EMPEROR!

  • I wish Space Marine (the game) /could be about the Custodes during the Hourus Heresy.

  • 2:14?

  • @Superratis Thats the Emperor. Its showing the Temple of Terra, that this is what the custodes guard.

  • @Yupyuk Thanks, I suspected it was the emperor but I always though the emperor was supposed to be in the golden throne "permanently".

  • @Superratis Well that is the golden throne, its just a little biot different from its original version. Yah know, less shiny and more cables into his his ass. Bout all. x3

  • @Yupyuk I like it, it looks more like a lab. Since he is supposed to be a shining beacon ti guide astropaths they usually depict him in a glorious golden throne, but this makes a lot more sense having into account that having him sitting down doesn't seem to make much sense. Thanks again!

  • @Superratis The throne had to be updated to ensure that he survives, it was once a throne but became a stasis device to ensure that he can guide the Imperial navy through the warp and the astronimicon won't die out. They feed him psychic energy to ensure he survives.

  • They really dropped the ball during the Horus heresy.

  • Custodes are vat-grown warriors created by the Emperor. They aren't like Space Marines in any way except for serving the same cause and being superhuman (Custodes being more super than Marines).

They are the strongest warriors the galaxy has ever known, shame that there isn't so much lore about them.

  • @Gan3lon The vat-grown part is rumour. It is theorized -- there is also a theory in WH40K that the Custodes are the literal descendants of the Emperor himself (His blood-related children).

  • And not through cloning if I must add in that theory.

  • its a hand picked group seperate from spacemarines as they dont have a geneseed. they were hand made by the emperor himself threw gene splicing and were of course designed to stop a spacemarine rebellion just not horus heresy hha.

  • i love the resemblance of adeptus custodes and the roman empire!!!

  • Remember when you could watch a video without having to sit through commercials?

Remember when music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO

Remember when all the info was to the right of the video?

Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?

Remember when the users controlled the site and not corporations?

Post this in every video and lets start a youtube revolution!

Thumbs up to keep at the top comment

  • @Toxicbowelz Well, since their armour is gold, its probably just the red trimmings that have been replaced with black, though all the pics of them are at pre heresy era.

  • Epic.

  • These guys would be pretty fun conversion to do for table top, to bad in the fluff they have never seen combat other than the Horus Heresy or the Age of Apostasy.

  • @Royalfork1 Custodes are guardians of Emperor becouse they are supperior fighters. Custodian recruits are - higly ranked astartes (gone missing) and other exceled warriors. So yes adeptus custodes as organisation has rearly seen combat but single custodian is more than match to anything in galaxy. (could beat astartes captain becouse once were one)

  • @DarkMassFabrikator They aren't astartes, or missing astartes, the process to turn someone into a custodes, is, compared to making Marines, more basic/brutal,but makes them bigger and tougher, than marines, but not suited to mass producement (Custodes don't have genesee dfor a start) the original custodes were hand engineered by the Emperor himself. From either natural recruits, or recruits from his proto astartes, the Thunder Warriors.

  • @DarkMassFabrikator Custodes are not Space Marines. The Adeptus Custodes are superior to space marines in every way - that includes being superior to Grey Knights.

The Adeptus Custodes cannot be corrupted -- Grey Knights still risk the chance of falling to Chaos if they didn't have their immense psycho-therapy and brainwashing treatments. The Custodes are rumoured to literally be the blood-related descendants of the Emperor himself.

  • @Unkehz0r I heard that the Custodians were infact the remnants of the Thunder warriors from the Unifaction era

  • @frostshock0 wrong. They are vat grown warriors custom made by the Emperor. Each is a large investment for the Imperium. They are superior to astartes in every way, but cannot be massed produced like them. Their leader during the Heresy-Era was Valdor Constantine. He was the size of a primarch and was one of the few beings to have ever bested Horus(in a sparring match).

  • @BaldurandVali The Origin of the Adeptus Custodes is actually a mystery. It is theorized, not confirmed.

  • @Unkehz0r i thought they were the Emperors original army. the ones that battled across earth in Thunder armour to unite the world under the Emperor

  • @kalic89 Yes, but now they remain under one banner and task. The Empeor's Custodians, guarding the emperor himself and the giant palace. They are the ultimate elite force of the Imperium. Best equipped, best trained, most experienced, most intelligent, with the ability to use psyc powers, having access to the most powerfull weapons that exist. A legionary is able to mess with scores of ordinary Space Marines as the SMs would do against ordinary Guardsmen. Alone their armor is a tech wonder.

  • @EmperorofTerra The Custodians gave up their armor, fyi. They no longer wear their armor while guarding the Palace.

  • @BaldurandVali Hey Baldrurand, where did you get so much information about Valdor Constantine? Are there some Books? Sounds amazing... size of Primarch ... beaten horus, (i know Valdor, but thats some epic things i didnt know :O!)

  • Funniest Custodies reference in history:

Adeptus Custodies: "I'm sorry but you've thrown off the Emperor's groove."

  • Custodes are by far my favorite organization in the Imperium, well above even the Astartes. Purer than any Space Marine, are they not the true sons of the Emperor? Regardless I do hope one day we will get a Custodes Codex, if the Grey Knights get their own, why not the Praetorian Guard of the Emperor as well?

  • The Horus Heresy novel 'The First Heretic' depicts the Custodes as significantly more powerful than a normal Astartes yet also flawed in that they fight as individuals and not as a united force, or team. Interesting take

  • @cmstophe It's only flawed from the viewpoint of the marines, wheras I'm sure within the custodes viewpoint, training to fight as a team is seen as a flaw.

  • @RayvenQ I agree, but when is working as a team EVER seen as a flaw? Ever?

  • @cmstophe When you're one of the custodes, I mean sure, when a bunch of them are sent on a mission, they probably vaguely work as a team, to accomplish the same goals, but they don't rely on each other to the same degree as Marines do. They fight alone because a. on their missions they usually are alone and b. if one or several of them die, their combat efficiency isn't as reduced as it could be. Custodes are more "Fight alone, together" than the Astartes "Fight Together, alone." way of thinking

  • in the final fight agaisnt chaos the custodians will have there time to shine again :P

  • the golden grey knights with heavy bolters instead of stormbolters

  • Can they pwn the enemies of the emperor anywhere other than on terra?

  • @Ninjalord525

When sent on custodian duties off-world; ofcourse.

But their objective is not to seek out and fight the Emperor's enemies like the Guard, Navy and Astartes do - they simply protect him as bodyguards and act as ambassadors of his will when it concerns his personal safety.

  • @rahma4 I wish my school custodian was as awesome. :(

  • @Ninjalord525

True dat mate :( True dat

  • I always thought it would be a neat idea to mix the Warhammer 40k universe with the Dune universe. Like a guild navigator traverses the warp. I think the bene gesserit could play such a critical role in human evolution with there breeding programs and religious manipulation.

  • Ave imperator!

  • Wouldn't the custodes be shit because they haven't seen battle for ten thousand years?

  • @RasAlGhul4000 they are more powerful than the other space marines

so i think they can fight

  • @AllianzUltra Experience is pretty important in a fighter.

  • @RasAlGhul4000 Unlikely, it seems more realistic that neophyte Custodes are likely trained by their elders and superiors and then sent out to actually gain experience and skill before returning to active duty guarding the Emperor's fortress on Terra and Holy Terra itself. It seems ludicrous and insane that inexperienced, superhumans regardless, would be ample enough to protect the Emperor and Adeptus Terra.

  • 1:40 omg its mr T!!

  • @spacewolfoffenris I PITTY THE HERITIC

  • Visions of Heresy says the Emperor and 1000 of his Custodians obliterated a whole Ork-Waaagh and saved the Space Marine Legions of Horus and two other Primarchs, have to dig out the book ^^

  • Pre-heresy, the Adeptus Custodes are numbered as a 1,000. There is no proof that such is the case though, as only a 1,000 have ever been sighted at one time. It is said that 10,000 blades guard the Imperial Palace, which suggest a different size for the Custodes.

  • anyone know where to buy this guys for warhammer table games???

  • @slizeremic Convert.

I am no expert, but many people use Fantasy High Elf heads (see the helmets).

  • You say there there Emperor's elite, but so are the Space Marine's, so the Adeptus Custodes are the Emperor's Finest Veterans of the Imperium. =D

  • @AdamShifnal correct! the emperor's finest! the only guys that are deaf to voices of the dark Gods! There are no such things as chaos grey knights!

  • @xXEviLIntenTXx Adeptus Custodes are immune to the influence of the Dark Gods since the Horus Heresy. Grey Knights are periodically mind-wiped. They're not really.. uh.. free willed unlike the Custodes.

  • @Unkehz0r really? it cant be.. was there any incident where a grey knight turned into chaos?

  • @AdamShifnal

yeah they are most finest than the space marines

  • @AdamShifnal .... with probably the best body armour and access to the greatest weapons arsenal of the galaxy..

  • who is that at 1:40?

  • @slizeremic Chief Custodian Constantin Valdor

  • Unquestionably they are the most epic warriors ever

  • Chromatic Superiority at its finest =P

  • emperor = horrible bustard - Abnett

anathema of all living - ADB

i prefer fight on horus side - mcneil

  • @Anfariuss what did the emperor do horus betrayed him and humanity

  • @DarkOne57s as abnett says - emperor is maniac and do not care about humans at all

both - horus and emperor died

  • @Anfariuss yet he protected humanity by makeing the imperium and its strick laws so the dont all turn to chaos or geting wiped out by xenos that sounds like careing to me :P

  • @DarkOne57s Exactly - if the Emperor didn't give a damn, he would have sold out to Chaos or settled for a smaller Imperium.. Why else create an Imperium of MAN? Why sit in stasis for 10,000 years in constant psychic struggle?

  • Question.....

Anyone know the names of the Emperor's sword and Horus' warhammer in the final battle that they have? At least I think it's a warhammer.

  • I have a question for the experts. How can the Custodes be the best of the best when they are just siting around on Terra? I mean no battle expierience for some thousand years, while the other chapters are fighting the whole time. Doesnt that count for something?

  • @DerAntimensch They play war games in which they must breach the palace defenses by any means necessary and attempt to mock play assassinate the Emperor - they face each other automated defense systems and weaponised servitors they were drawn from the pre Index Astartes program the Emperors techno barbarian armies during the war for Terra - read the tales of Heresy it says somewhere in there about them massacring a failed uprising rebellion against the emperor from human terrans

  • @DerAntimensch Certainly up to and during the Heresy they had their hands full protecting the emperor, keeping up their skills. Partly its how they're made/training. In the latest Horus Heresy book they show some of the Custodes were dispatched to watch the Word Bearers. Since the heresy, it is possible the Council of Terra or the head of the Custodes has the authority to similarly dispatch them to warzones, keeping them from getting rusty as it were.

  • @PraetorHesperus It is stated that now they rarely leave the emperors side. Sources also mention them being ambassadors. They really only venture out in extreme or political situations.

  • great vid, but i wish the custodes were actually as good as you make them out to be. most would get whupped by a traitor primarch and during the fall of Prospero the Pavoni killed them

  • @rosegirl666 Only 300 died, there are 9700 left. Oh no.

  • @RageAgainstAuthority There are 1000 custodes or less left actually...

  • @RageAgainstAuthority who said there were ever 10,000 custodes-they're not a full legion

  • @RageAgainstAuthority They never had 10000 only 1000 unless you counting the thunder warriors as the same which they are not and I don't think there ever was cannon for their number.

  • @rosegirl666 Mostly wolves not custodes. Re-read many craft were disabled and a few killed though only through extreme displays of power such as possessed titan. The custodes had sister nearby and the thousand sons were extremely powerful at that moment as most of them were being possesed even the non psykers as the flesh change during the battle turned them into somthing akin to a warpspawn and the veil was either torn or almost torn during.

  • @rosegirl666 Whatever, they are the best the Imperium can offer between a horde of Alien races and the Imperial Palce. There is nothing beyond them, but the leadership.

  • @EmperorofTerra Actually the Adeptus Custodes have surrendered their armor - they don't wear their armor anymore.

That, and the Emperor really doesn't need to be guarded. Have you read the novel where the Inquisitor manages to gain audience with the Emperor? The Emperor freezes time itself so the Inquisitor can speak with him without the Custodes interfering.

  • @Unkehz0r To clarify. The combat armor of the Adeptus Custodes is only worn if nessesary, so, most likely and it is so: during an attack on Terra. This was decided after the end of the Horus Herassy. The only real difference is, that they now wear black cloth instead of red. Yes, I know about the Emperor's ( mine XP ) force, but just think about it. Why exactly do you see an effective defence in it against massive force, like it was during the attack. It was just enough to coordinate units.

  • @Unkehz0r Yes, the Custodian combat gear is kept in the Palace arsenal were all the other technologicaly most advanced land equipment is stored. In case of war on Terra, the Custodian guard will for guarantee take all their armor to defend the throne.

  • @rosegirl666 Prospero was for the most part completly anhilated allready during the first giant volleys.

  • I love all the Romanesque designs of the Horus Heresy stuff. They did a really good job using that to their benefit to get the feel of the Pre-Heresy Imperium down.

  • One running theory is that the Custodes are actually clones of the Emperor...

  • who are the custodians? i am yet to hear of them though i only recently realy got into warhammer books and recently fully understood the inquisition

  • pshhh the guy who walks my dog is more badass than these guys

  • is it just me or does this sound a bit like the halo theme ??

  • I loved the vid. Especially the climatic building up to the point where it shows the Emperor with Constatin Valdor at his side :P

  • 1:39 constantine valdor =D

  • so who have the custodes even fought since the age of apostasy

  • OH SHIT CAN U PM ME THE LINK OF " 2:04 " THAT PIC!?

  • Comment removed

  • hay say what if a hive fleet was inbound on holy terra(emperor forbid) would the Custodes fight far from earth to stop it? or say a black crusade, if it brok the Cadin gate would they fight off earth to stop it? simler to us fighting world war 2 to save the pepole back home even if it had reltivle little do to with us.

  • @dragonkingofthestars

    I doubt they would "D

  • We're sorry, but you threw off the Emperor's groove."

  • 2:10 who has their hand on the Emperors right shoulder guard as its not his own and constantin valdor is using both hands to hold his Guardian Spear and helmet magical hands of the warp or epic artist fail

  • @LHAXM

THOSE ARE THE EMPEROR'S HANDS YOU DING-DONG!

THE PIC IS NAMED "THE EMPEROR'S HANDS"

TO HIS RIGHT ARE THE CUSTODES AND THE HIS LEFT ARE THE SISTERS OF BATTLE! THEY CONSTANTLY GUARD THE GOD EMPEROR!

    HENCE THE EMPERORS HANDS

  • @jachin43 The Emperors hands are actually Constantin Valdor and Amendra Kendel although there is some dispute that the sisters of silence Emperors hand may be sister Celia Harroda who defended the gateway between the golden throne and the webway from a bloodthirster after all other defences failed and ultimately died from exertion of stifling the beasts warp powers and putting it down with her frost blade... IMO kendel is the silent sister Emperors hand

  • @LHAXM Their is nothing on his right and a somthing that could be viewed as hand looking on his left but it's not...just a half viewd design on armor.

  • @Pineappletaco Look up the image in the Visions of heresy Kendel and Valdor are pictured to the left and right of the Emperor and the artwork piece is entitled Hands of the Emperor

  • The Custodes are symbols of the Imperiums might! None could stand in their way on Prospero and Constantin Valdor defeating Horus in a Sparring match is unbelievable. Although they turned in their armor after the emperors Ascension they are still a force to be reckoned with. All who attack the golden throne shall be shattered upon a wall of gold and black, long live the custodes.

  • Hail the Adeptus Custodes Captain-General!! Most Badass of all Janitors!

  • @Mrcakeman34

That is worthy of a motifake lmfao

  • These guys are cooler then the Spartans from 300.

  • @ND999taufan YOU THIIIIINK!!!!!???

  • the greatest warrior can still be fell by the smallest serpent

    DARK ELDAR #1

  • Custodes are to a Space Marine what a Space Marine is to an average Guardsmen. A Space Marine can "best a hundred normal men or more in combat."

    The Adeptus Custodes are godly.

  • Isnt it fantastic how we all can just sit around talking about some fabled guys who´s stats have never been released?(This is not sarcastic.)although a bit geeky,, im still quite into it, as i do so love the 40k universe, ive been playing it for the last 20yrs now, and still it seems to amaze me...keep it up, and thanks Gunflash, first of for the tribute, and secondly for starting this heavy debate! .-)

  • Looks abit like Homer in profile! lol:01:36

  • This music come perfectly with Adeptus Custodes !

  • Awesome!

  • Ok, to everyone here saying one Custodian guard is equal to one 100 Space marines. Where did you read this? Because it's not true, one space marine is equal in "raw combat firepower" to 10...yes 10! Imperial guardsmen.

Now, the Custodians are only marginaly better than Space marines. So a typical Custodian Guard would only be a little better than a Grey knight.

Say articer armour, + 1 Initiave and change the rules of the guardian spear to a + 1 str power weapon. Thats about right. ;)

  • @Sonnypjim09 ...get a life man...

  • @XENOFOBULUS I have a life you cheeky piece of shit. Don't like my opinions then fuck off you silly dickhead. Can't stand little "trolls" like you chatting shit over here.

  • @Sonnypjim09 Hahahah, you didnt even think if it was a joke or seriously ment, instead you immediately turned frothing troll yourself, turn down the charm my friend, no need to do that unless you got a serious issue, but then, go to an anger managament course....for trolls...

  • @XENOFOBULUS I wasn't being serious. lol I can get annoyed, but it takes more than comments on Youtube to unsettle my mind. =p I still think the + 1 Initiave would be good. hahaha

  • @Sonnypjim09 ...Sure didnt seem that way with all those fine words flung in my general direction. if thats when ur not annoyed, then I would love to see you rather pissed off! :-O

Ill stop the ranting now, but for the record:Temper temper my friend!

    ::X::

  • @XENOFOBULUS hahaha Well, it usually catches people off guard and puts them in & akward position. Like I said, they're only words and can be percieved as you want to see them. =p

Trust me, I have collected Wh40k for like 14 years, it's hard to get me that angry. lmao

    Well, peace out.

  • @Sonnypjim09 Fair enough, which armies have you played then?

  • @XENOFOBULUS I've been a staunch Blood angels player from day one, still collect them. =p Black Templars Grey knights Imperial guard - Cadian Imperial guard - Catachan Orks Eldar Chaos space marines Some Tau units Dwarfs Empire Brettonnians Chaos warriors Ogre kingdoms High elves and I think thats about it. =p
  • They are the Emperors children. The sensei. Thats why their so bad ass!

  • For Sigmars sake, whats the name of the song? O__o

  • @XxMalarkixX Uprising by Dan Nielsen

  • The Adeptus Custodes were actually better than the Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) but very few in number.
