@led4yohedd that kind of has a duality in my interpretation. the cross was a pagan symbol before it was signifigant for christianity. i dont think they ever intended it to be anti christian but rather as a tribute to their ancestors who were rather opposed to being forced to believe in things that werent their own. As far as i know the band is atheist (or at least the singer) and chose this topic merely as reverence of their ancestors.

I'm a skilled swordfighter & have quite a bit of martial arts experience, but that doesn't mean I would bring my ninjato to a shootout. It's not that one is more easy than the other only that they are different when it's blade to blade or AR to AR.
@2Bforsaken I have the 4 Kyu in Shotokan Karate (and yes, we dont use weapons...) and obviously if your enemy brings a gun it would be stupid to use your hands or any kind of cold weapon (hense "bringing a knife to a gun fight"). But that the problem with the world, war sucks now a days!
@DarkBlade165 there is more skill with a firearm than you think, especially in todays combat zones. which weapon are you using? what class is it? how much does it weigh? how far is your target? is he in the range of your weapon? is he in cover? can you adapt for the wind speed? can you adapt for the range? can he see you? where do you shoot? do you want to kill or wound? are you aiming or hip firing? Blades are more Honorable, but firearms do require quite a bit of skill.

There's "honor" and then there's stupidity. Swords, axes and bows were the weapons of the day. So the Vikings used them. Guns are the weapons of the day now, so they will use guns.
And by the way, there's no infantry armor in the world that can stop a .308 bullet.

While guns require skill, anyone can shoot a target from a distance... its when you're face to face, a blades width away from death that you must be brave. Its true, guns are designed to kill, but thats all our modern weapons do, there's no honor or bravery. And bullets can be painful as hell, but a blade twisting in your gut is far worse. @TheNorsetroll No. Modern vikings would use firearms. They're the ones you'd see on the front lines, possibly even carrying the LMGs around (like say, the M249 or the M60). That or they'd be tank commanders.
There's "honor" and then there's stupidity. Swords, axes and bows were the weapons of the day. So the Vikings used them. Guns are the weapons of the day now, so they will use guns.
And by the way, there's no infantry armor in the world that can stop a .308 bullet.

@turbofritz2 I have to agree with this comment. I was just telling my friends how our wars are cowardly compared to then. While guns require skill, anyone can shoot a target from a distance... its when you're face to face, a blades width away from death that you must be brave. Its true, guns are designed to kill, but thats all our modern weapons do, there's no honor or bravery. And bullets can be painful as hell, but a blade twisting in your gut is far worse. Also, now adays we're trained to do everything as a team formation what with radios and headsets and all that. Every thing is either already done for you, or all you need to do is push a button. Sword and shield, it takes skill, conquering or defending, blockign and attacking. All we have now is point and pull. Nothing to it... All it is is a way to kill the largest amount of people with as little effort as possible. There isnt any pride in that.
