  • The HAND coming across the screen was from SHOCK THEATRE ....every friday night during the early 60's before I started dating .....wayyy cool ..... remember slumber parties ?

  • The credits shown are for the movie "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" - I loved that one!

  • LOVE IT. my sister was working for the station recently and I asked if she could fine it but she didnt know what I was talking about. this made my day!

  • Anybody remember The Tingler? About this lobster looking thing that lived in your spine. That was more of a 5 Star Shock flick featured at 3 on Saturday afternoons with Joe Alston in his undertaker's garb. that was eventually replaced by Mr. Moto & Charlie Chan movies. When it comes to the title role, Sidney Tolar KICKED WARNER OLAND'S ASS everytime. While we're on a SA groove, anyone rememberor the blood & guts newscast on KSAT, 12 Star Final?? Theyd get close up of wrecks & victims

  • The show with the hand coming out of the grave was called "Fright" or "Fright Night" and came on Saturday nights at midnight.

  • That is so great! How did you find this?

  • I grew up in San Antonio and loved Project Terror. Used to scare the hell out of me as a child. Hell, it may still scare me. Great post.

  • WOW! I just noticed after 40 years they did that PT opening with an oscilloscope - probably in the TV control room.

I enjoy the old sci-fi thriller movies back then more than today's offerings. Sure today's films are more polished and high tech, but creators back then had to use their imagination, and anything they could find in a garage or closet for special effects, from from hub caps on a string to grease spots on the camera lens. Way cool back then.

  • I believe that that hand coming out of the grave was SHOCK which was also KENS Channel 5 in San Antonio. But Shock was saturday afternoon. Project Terror was friday night at 10:30pm

  • Man that brings memories! I was always hiding under the bed when this piece came out.. build a barrier to protect me from the monster coming out of the television. Does anyone have a list of the show that came out during the 10 years it was showing?

  • LOL!! I used to have nightmares about the Project Terror logo/intro. Once again, I am old.

  • nostalgia!

  • OMG I was in San Antonio in 3rd grade I would watch Project Terror every friday night, The intro scared Me so bad I had to turn down the volume on our old TV, the movies never scared me as bad as that damn intro.

Its still creeps me even now. Awesome

  • @xepobnha -- I am the EXACT same. ITell people to this day that the intro scared the crap out of me... More than any of the movies... Had to tough it out to watch Godzilla though...

  • Wow. I haven't seen this since sometime in the 70s. I used to stay up late watching the flick-du-jour.

  • I have been dying to hear & see that intro, thank you very much!!!!!! My brother & I would watch every Friday night, it was our favorite show! I am very nostalgic & actually have tears of joy right now !!!!!!

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I've been looking for this for years. I, like so many others, grew up with this show. This show is the basis on our Annual "Project Terror" night I host for my kids, nephews & nieces every Halloween for the past 15+ years.

  • AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I'm 43 yrs old (born in 1966) and I've never forgotten how this used to scare the heck out of me. I used to cover my ears and close my eyes until the intro was over and fall asleep watching Godzilla. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • Oh my god I loved project terror!!! When I was a kid, before cable, you would tune in at 12 mid-night every Friday and watch everything from the horror classics to Godzilla. I believe the fe-male voice is Blanquita Cullum.

  • That just gave me a cold chill, experiencing it for the first time this millennium! It used to suddenly pop up right before the commercial breaks. Usually during the most suspenseful moments during the movies. I think it made those B movies even more terrifying. Very effective. I wish KENS would bring it back. Those old films ought to be public domain by now.

  • I remember that they had a grim reaper hosting Project Terror at one time, anybody remember that?

  • Awesome memories.....Thanks for posting.

  • God Bless you for postign this. So many good memories. I used to see this show when I was a kid living in Texas. I am wondering if anyone remembers a show around 1969 called "Fright." It came on right after Project Terror.

  • We used to pick this up in the hills around Austin. Captain Gus too.

  • Thanks so much for posting!!! I loved that show! I grew up in Goliad, Texas and our TV channels came from Corpus and San Antonio. Every Friday night during my junior high years we were in front of the TV Watching Project Terror. I even still remember the old commercials that played during that from Hamms, Fina and others. Does anyone remember the horror host from Corpus (KIII - channel 3 I think) Count Vesco and Derf. They had a run during the late 70's hosting horror movies. Thanks for the vid!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!! I also remember watching this after the 10 o'clock news on KENS-5 as a kid. Used to scare the pants off me, too! :O)

  • Wow! that brings back some memories.

  • Oh man, I remember spending many a late Friday night watching the movies on Project Terror. Channel 5 (KENS), right?

  • television was great back in the 60's and 70's.

  • Thanks for posting this. Great memories with Project Terror.

Which show had the opening with the hand coming out of the grave?

    Does anyone from SA remember?

    Thanks

  • Thanks. I believe it was an opening for Shock Theater that came out in the early 60's. There are no known video or pictures of this. I do have pictures of the Host. Joe Alston, who also did the Voice over for Project terror. He was also Captain Gus.

  • @1876alamo Wasn't that a werewolf/ vampire movie with Lon Chaney? I remember what ur talking aboout, I think.

  • That is AMAZING! I was wondering when someone would find this on videotape! Now if we just had some 5 star shock theater or Captain Gus videos! Thanks for posting this video!

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting this Howard. Finally, we all get to see and hear the real thing! Happy Halloween 2009!

  • Man, I remember watching this (if I could keep awake long enough) throughout my youth in the seventies. Thanks a lot, Howard!!!
