Why take all the strings off? I thought you were to do one string at a time so you don't mess up the neck. I like to have the string wrapped at least three times around the peg.

Something this guy did WRONG was that he tightened the string before he tuned the guitar.
You really should adjust the length of the string to the next tuner up the headstock, and then tighten. You should have between 2 - 3 coils on the E - D strings and 4 - 6 coils on the G - e string.
The reason why is when it comes to different tuning setups on your guitar. If you use this guys method, you gonna have trouble dropping your tune past 1 step without the strings coming undone.
@OMMIAMSalvation Yeah, you think that a guy who works for a guitar string manufacturer - and especially a spokesman - would have common knowledge on how to properly string a guitar.
Im surprised he didn't just tie knots and then tighten.
I just restringed my Cherry Sunburst LesPaul, witha set of D Addario 9 gauge Nicklewound strings. I just learned I have been stringing it wrong the entire time. It sounds better than when I bought it. Awesome tutorial.
@TheMagnumGuitar im not a pro guitar fixer but i think that if its only wound twice it'll break. i"ve had a similar experience with my guitars and the string broke. but that was with a stratocaster so if you dont have that same guitar then im not sure. i hope that helps
how much slack do u need to rewind the strings?
6pwner 9 months ago
@6pwner Roughly 2 inches should do it to get 3 to 4 wraps around the post. This also helps with avoiding the high e string snapping when u tune up.

Few questions, how many times does it have to loop around the post?
And my tail piece thing is "burning" out my A-String, how can I fix that? Thanks

I don't think I've ever removed all of the strings on any of my guitars at the same time... And I doubt I will.

My strings don't even wind all the way around the peg. I'm using an SG with Jazz Mediums tuned to Baritone tuning.

They do! I own a couple of them myself, very useful when I'm on duty working as a tech with bands.
