Str8narrow, you have an 80 year old man doing math off the top of his head on a dry erase board on live TV, also you conveniently omit that he said the word "about". 38% of 700 Billion is 266, which to me is "about" 300. Stop nitpicking, the man knows he old, he wealthy and won't be on the planet much longer. The fact he's trying to better the world with his money and time left is honorable to me.

Perkins says "We can reduce this number, 700 billion, by 38%. But 38% of 700 billion is NOT 300 billion as he points out. If you reduce 700 billion by 38% you reduce it by 266 billion which is 434 billion. That is, we will still be importing 434 billion. To get 700 down to 300 that is more that 60%. Is he turning his numbers around? Is this an honest mistake. What is correct? I'm all for getting away from foreign oil but lets get our numbers straight and straight-forward!

How do we convince power companies to shut down natural gas-fired plants that they have invested in in order to "free-up" the gas so that it can power cars?

Who will pay for power lines? I'm not sure the power companies have the cash to invest.
