You might be happy to know I have now flown on the other ex-All Star DC-9-14 in Kenya. Check out my videos and you'll find about five taken on 5Y-XXA. The one I flew earlier was 5Y-XXB (this video).
I worked for Allstar airlines. N85AS and N25AS were the queens of the fleet, no disrespect to N73AF! I'm psyched to see shes still flying!! Present passengers may be surprised she once carried(1980's) most of the American major league baseball players, NHL hockey players, and American presidential canidate Walter Mondale. She was also the press chase aircraft for George Bush (the 1st). Not to mention celebrities, and high roller gamblers to Atantic City. And so many more great charters!!
Great to hear you worked for All Star Airlines and remember this a/c!
I got an e-mail the other day from a Captain who flies this aircraft now for East African. She too praises this aircraft (compared to their F28). their other DC-9 10, 5Y-XXA, is apparently now retired, as I suspected when I took this trip.
well the chinese are on the making of a plane very similar to the DC-9 ( remenber that they made some MDs ) its very similar to a DC-9 .... its a DC 9 with new engines xDDDD
You always do such an awesome job getting capturing footage of older jets!! Amazing, this plane is OVER 40 years old and still running! And I bet it's never been in an accident, either!
The engines don't sound as loud as an MD-80 for some reason.
I have a metal display model of that plane in Air Canada CF-TLB markings, it's 18"long. I just did a search on the registration and found this, so cool.
