  • Why didn't they invite Terry?

  • This debate is 60% "woo."

  • For those who would criticize Ed Lee for not being his own man, including me, I ask this. Who really is in politics? All have backers and supporters, some more than others, some quite influential and possessing financial plus political resources. This can put pressure on them to favor them in payment for their support.

Politics is not only a blood sport, it is a game of brinksmanship, one of money, influence, influence peddling behind the scenes and favoritism. I love watching it unfold.

  • Mayor Edwin Lee, one of the candidates at this mayoral debate took quite a verbal beating - flamed with anger - boos, yelling, catcalls - from the audience and some sharp comments from a few other candidates. Additionally, the names Willie Brown and Rose Pak came up. This was to be expected given the widely held belief that he was obligated to honor his promise to the board of supervisors to not run.

  • All 11, at one point or another, spoke to the needs of the audience and the city. Each candidate got enthusiastic applause at various points during the forum. At one point or another during this debate, I could have voted for any of the 11. Really. Then reality settled in.

  • This 10 candidate, + 1, mayoral debate at the Castro Theater, San Francisco, was the most entertaining political forum I've ever attended.

Those invited included, left to right: Michela, Alioto-Pier, John Avalos, David Chiu, Bevan Dufty, Tony Hall, Dennis Herrera, Edwin Lee, Joanna Rees, Phil Ting and Leland Yee.

The +1 at the far right end was Teresa Baum, the green party candidate who showed up, demonstrated courage against a threat of arrest, mounted the stage and asked to be heard.

  • Thank You David and thanks for your great photo's and all the work you do! :)

  • I was impressed that Green Party candidate, Teresa (Terry) Baum while uninvited, showed courage, climbed on stage, spoke to several of the other candidates and negotiated a seat for herself at the table. While she was not given equal time, her comments were on target and elicited a very positive response from the audience. It was an impressive move and helped put her candidacy on the map.

  • Excellent work Kary. It is very helpful to have this historic event on video. Thank you. Here are a few of my observations (also posted on my facebook page).
