you can compare any two players but Maradonna should be left out of any comparaison because he is the only player to play with average and less than average teams and manage to win. he is the best player and the most efficient player ever he can decide matches even with small teams.
I have always supported Ajax when I was young but whenever Romario played for PSV and scored or did something amazing, it was simply a joy to see. a very special player.
@SuperMariopuzo .no he snot.hes not even close to being as deadly finisher as romario.besides romario was unique, could pass, chip, shoot while running wihtout nay backlift and was a genius in the box.
I think he couldnt even score a goal if he played agaisnt defenders and keepers of this time. POOR DEFENDING AND POOR KEEPING thats wht all this video is about. WHERE THE HELL IS THE SKILLS OF ROMARIO i think he dont have it. BUT MESSI DO!!!!!
Puyoled.....Messi is only dominant for FC Barcelona when he plays with Xavi/Iniesta duo in midfield. He had a chance to win a Copa America at home in Argentina and they couldn't come close to winning it. Romario at a younger age led Brazil at home to a Copa title. And he promised to lead Brazil to a WC in 1994 and did.
Romario was a MUCH better international player than Messi has ever been.
assyyyriaa....That is a myth. Argentina with Messi were favourites vs. Brazil in the 2007 Copa America finals and were blown away 3-0. Neymar almost has as many goals for Brazil's senior team as Messi does for Argentina despite still being a teenager.
I'd also like to add, he has Dani Alves in Barca bombarding up as right back providing a lot of good crosses for him. None of Argentinas fullbacks have the capacity to do so.
@FuShengAlex You realize that Neymar has Dani Alves bombarding forward in Brazil don't you? And do you know the tiny percent of crosses that Messi converts to goals? Plus most moves with Dani Alves were started by Messi anyway.
GreenSleevedJacket .....you obviously don't watch the Selecao compare Alves in Barca with Messi to him playing for the NT where he's always criticized and rightfully so (see his past Copa America) for not playing as well as his club form.
@FuShengAlex And you obviously don't watch Messi as much as you claim to know about him. Messi isn't utilized half as well in Argentina as he is in Barcelona. In Argentina, he has way too many responsibilities as a playmaker for him to go all out as a creative striker. Thats why the dumbass Higuain gets all the goals. He is much more relaxed at Barca. Guardiola puts him in the perfect spot to unleash his full potential (which is why he scores every time in La Liga after an internationally match)
@FuShengAlex um i should mention that less than 1 month ago messi scored 6 goals without xavi or iniesta in the barca team... im sorry but messi scores mostly out of nowhere, he creates his own chances
@Puyoled .youre an absolute retard.messi skills but not romario?rofl what a joke.defenders of this time?you mean shit ones like ramos or puyol? rofl please just shut p and fuck off.
@Puyoled .are you fucking high?romario is miles better a finisher than messi is or will beeven now mesis continues to cut into the left and go for the left hand side of goal, over and over again.just how shit can la liga possibky be?oh and shit defenders?rofl maldini is a better defender than the entier barca clowns of the backline combined fool and romario scores....again.
I love that goal at number 4, unreal technique. His change of pace was breathtaking. The defender probably thought there wasn't too much danger. fuhk.
Whoever did this,is a true fan, although I personally think "GOAL 3" was the best.Should have been number 1 because it requires so much technique. He feigned as if he was going the other way, then returned leaving the goalkeeper confused. Not knowing whether to follow ball or man......
circaeternity...that number THREE goal is eerily similar to the one Pele missed vs. Uruguay in 1970.
Personally number 5 is the most impressive of the bunch. He is being marked by the finest left-back ever in Maldini, and he juggled the ball 3 times before firing home. It' interesting to know Romario said the best goal he ever scored (which was vs. Mexico in 1997) didn't even make this list.
@soufianomeno Have you never heard of Franz Beckenbauer? Read up on why West Germany were so good mate. and Bayern. I wouldn't bother commenting on a list if you haven't. Though, it is completely impossible (and a matter of opinion) to compile a list like that. Too many factors and too many players. I could argue another 10/20 in that list. But all are worthy of being regarded as some of the greatest ever. You cannot reduce it to 5, only in an opinion.
if only the Brazil of today had a few more players like him,one of my all time favourites is Romario,Brazillian Genius, especially when it came to putting the ball in the back of the net
Look at the way Ronaldo passes the ball to Romario who is charging towards the goal. See how he does not pass the ball to the ball running along the left flank. Absolutely amazing!!!
Romario: King of Foxes in the box. 1 on 1 extraordinaire, finisher of the highest quality. Inside foot or outside of foot placing. Amazing technique and coolness in front of the world's best goalkeepers.
That goal vs Uruguay was reminiscent of Pele's body swerve in the 70' World Cup. Brazil were in danger of missing out on qualification for the 1994 World Cup before that game. Why was he left out of the 1998 squad, was he injured?
romario is my favorite player of all times, and I agree with the comments, he scored much better goals than on this list ( thou goals # 5 4 3 and 2 are ones of his best but not #1 nor the others)
Romario was like Bergkamp with the technique and like Inzaghi with positioning and like Pele how he could make a simple move past the defense. Romario and Ronaldo are in the past and I am so happy I could watch them play, these guys were the best strikers and most dangerous strikers.
Not at the World Cup of 2010. The dutch did some payback time. By the way this number one goal was off-side, but that is not shown in this clip!! He had a advantage of at least 4 feet in off-side position.
Quite simple to see why Braxil lost their edge lately in football, before they had the greatest offensive players in the world. Romario to Ronaldo to Ronaldihno now they have what Robininonono something?

Yes Brazil ALWAYS had, has and will always have great players!!!! But Romario at his best, wasn't just great!!! No player in history was ever able to play with such little space. In a fraction of a second, he'd wrong foot the defender & goalkeeper; picked his spot and pulled the trigger. All that with only 2/3 touches... By the time you understood what he did, he was already celebrating!!! Big shame that he didn't get to trophies that he deserved!

@badreason He won a World Cup in 1994. Since I think this is the best trophy any player can get in his carreer I am fairly sure he never felt ashamed :)
Lower teams in spain play attractice and intelligent football against bigger teams and try to actually PLAY soccer rather than not conceading a goal , its called postive mentality, dont ever try to compare the italian soccer with tha spanish art of soccer , they are world apart. Spain also is the most sucesseful country on club level in the last 10 years
@Hospitaller78 .dont be stupid, even though i prefer spanish football, spanish football is weak compared to italian and english football. only barcelona and real madrid are good.
For that guy saying that in Spain there are poor teams play withhout defence, I ask him , why dont you say that in spain even the last team in the staindings attacks better than Inter and plays more attractive football than inter ?
romario, ronaldo, rivaldo, roberto carlos.....when these guyz stopped playing for brazil i stopped supporting them...... nothing against kaka n ronaldinho but lol fuck that shit
@TheDreamer138 Except for the last two world Cups... they were shameful! It's a real sad thing when Italy, Brazil and Argentina don't perform at a major tournament...
Search in youtube Romário playing for Vasco in seasons like 87/88, 2000/01 and 05/06.
All those years ago Romario was a real God playing for Vasco da Gama, doing just incredible, and important greats goals in derbys against ''flamengo'', and in final of importants leagues and internacional cups.
it's just too hard to describe the genius of ramario these days all the players are not as special you don't see any of them and say "he will become big" the only player i can really see become a legend is messi but i see big things from Thomas Muller
one of the worst so called "future" of football/soccer is Cristiano Ronaldo.. girls...money..girls..girls..money that all he cares about there are rumors he has become a father maybe he will become a better player because of that.

There is no "next Romario". He was absolutely unique. Everything he did just worked against any team, any style. Both club and country.
That was some perfomance considering he was one of the lazyest trainers and the biggest party face.
No Messi or Ronaldo come close to him in may point of view

In a fraction of a second, he'd wrong foot the defender & goalkeeper; picked his spot and pulled the trigger. All that with only 2/3 touches... By the time you understood what he did, he was already celebrating!!! Big shame that he didn't get to trophies that he deserved!
badreason 1 year ago
@badreason He won a World Cup in 1994. Since I think this is the best trophy any player can get in his carreer I am fairly sure he never felt ashamed :)

Lower teams in spain play attractice and intelligent football against bigger teams and try to actually PLAY soccer rather than not conceading a goal , its called postive mentality, dont ever try to compare the italian soccer with tha spanish art of soccer , they are world apart. Spain also is the most sucesseful country on club level in the last 10 years
Hospitaller78 1 year ago
@Hospitaller78 .dont be stupid, even though i prefer spanish football, spanish football is weak compared to italian and english football. only barcelona and real madrid are good.
987costa 1 year ago
For that guy saying that in Spain there are poor teams play withhout defence, I ask him , why dont you say that in spain even the last team in the staindings attacks better than Inter and plays more attractive football than inter ?

Romario is a prodigy son of Vasco da Gama.
Stay Vasco!

why have theson3's amazing romario videos got only a few thousand veiws each - and this awful one got over a million?!
Patinho 1 year ago
it's just too hard to describe the genius of ramario these days all the players are not as special you don't see any of them and say "he will become big" the only player i can really see become a legend is messi but i see big things from Thomas Muller
one of the worst so called "future" of football/soccer is Cristiano Ronaldo.. girls...money..girls..girls..money that all he cares about there are rumors he has become a father maybe he will become a better player because of that.
