I really do wish they'd go back to narrating these stories with British voice overs in the American version. As someone who grew up with Ringo Starr doing the voice overs, it's really jarring to watch British steam engines with American accents. Worse yet, Alec Baldwin had a thing about making all the innocent comments by the engines sound like sexual innuendo with inappropriate intonation in his narrations...

The 633 km refers to the length, not the speed, of the flying scotsman route, which is approximately 638 km

Notice how the class 37 hasn't been invited to the isle of sodor (which were built in the 60s and still run today). The class 47 was invited but only in the book series and are still running today.

It's stop-motion animation. They simply did the shot twice, each time with a different face on Gordon. Then, they just found a frame where Spencer's coach was in the same spot, and spliced the two sets of footage together.

In Thomas, Gordon is the fastest engine, but in real life, it is the Mallard A4 Class 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive. I am fully aware of the locomotives, and besides we're just having fun, besides in the point of Thomas is to not take the real facts so seriously. If it were a documentary, that would be another thing, and the place to take it seriously.

A few points

1. Spencer is an A4 and Christopher Awdry said in Gordon the High Speed Engine that Mallard is Gordon's cousin.

2. It's not very ecominic for a large main line express engine to haul 1 coach.

3. It's the responsibility of the driver and fireman to keep the tender topped up with water - so Spencer must have a very neglicant crew.

Oh yeah, that's right! The class of engine that Spencer is can't take on water, unless he uses a certain type of water tower. Another question arises though. Unless the driver damped down Spencer's fire really fast, he would have exploded when he ran out of water. If an engine runs out of water it's like boiling an empty kettle. BOOM. ;)
